1 John 2:15-16 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

We are not to love the world.

We are not to love the things that are in the world.

If anyone loves that world, they do not have the love of God in them.

These are the things that are of the world:

The things the flesh wants

The things the eyes want to see

The pride of life.

The things that are of the world are not of the Father

This is important because the thing that we need is God.  Our fulfillment is in God.  We receive the things he freely gives us during this life.  We receive them as gifts.  We don't desire them.  We desire to do God's will.  We desire to yield to His Spirit and allow Him to do His works through us and say His words through us.
