Basics Of Hinduism

What is a cult?

The only sure way to avoid being deceived by a cult.

Basics of Hinduism:

The two most strongly held doctrines are Carma and Reincarnation.

Some Hindus are theists and others are atheists because you can prove anything at all from the Hindu scriptures.  They say that every person is free to choose his own.  Hindus believe in one impersonal force god who is manifested in many gods and goddesses.  They believe that anything faithfully followed will lead to the ultimate.  All this seems to be self-contradictory, and one Hindu leader has said that Hinduism has opened its arms so wide that when it closes them again it will end up strangling itself.

They believe that humans are able to escape their bondage to ignorance and illusion through their own human efforts.  They believe that humans don’t need Jesus as their Savior.

Hindus feel that, through many cycles of reincarnation, they will gain enlightenment.  Their methods of salvation consist of yoga, meditation, devotion to a god of a goddess, pilgrimages to holy cities, and trying to live according to their purpose or role.

Note:  There are three basic divisions of Hinduism.  Monists stress the oneness of the universe and all-is-god.  Vishnuites worship the Vishnu and all the manifestations of Vishnu.  ISKCONites believe that Krishna is the supreme god and is also known as Vishnu.  In addition, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh taught a form of Hindu that is quite different from any of the others.

Basic Tenets of Biblical Christianity:

To compare the Hindu cult to Biblical Christianity, go here.

Hinduism is willingly ignorant of the lost condition of all human beings and the one Holy Creator God's great gift of giving His one and only way of salvation through acceptance of the atoning work of His one, unique Son, Jesus Christ.  As a result of this willing ignorance, followers of this religion miss all the benefits of holiness, righteousness, peace, glory, love, and joy that can only be found through Jesus.  The sad result of their rebellion against God is that those who follow this course choose hell rather than heaven.
