Dogma becomes a god along side of the God who gives revelation.  Dogma and doctrine become disconnected from the only revelator, Jesus.  Dogma and doctrine are transformed into the dead letter.  When the dogma-based Christian reads the Bible, all they see is their dogma.  They no longer hear the voice of God.
