My Mind Or God's? Avoid Being Deceived

Answers   Spirit, Mind, Body   Use Your Mind

But I have a mind and I'm supposed to use it, don't you think?

The real question: do you frame your beliefs according to God’s Word or man’s word?

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed [literally, Transfigured] by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Notice that it does not say to be transformed by the removal of your mind.

. . . but how does the renewal of your mind work?

First, you will notice the "the renewal of your mind" is in the passive voice.  That means that someone else, God, is doing it.  You cannot renew your mind.  You only have the capacity to deceive yourself.  Through self-effort, you have the capacity for hypocrisy only.  God is the renewer of the mind.  You need the Holy Spirit for this work.  Don't be deceived.  Don't let anyone else deceive you.  Turn to God.

The human mind was never created to function without the anointing of the Holy Ghost.  The human spirit was never meant to be separated from the Holy Ghost.  The human mind was created to be in submission to the human spirit, which was created to be in submission to the Holy Ghost.

. . . and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring: Numbers 15:39

The real question is, "Who do you trust?"    "Do you trust your own understanding or do you trust God?"

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?  Jeremiah 17:9

But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians 2:14

Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath showed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Romans 1:19

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. Proverbs 3:5-8

For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. Matthew 15:19

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Psalm 53:1
