Islam is based in a righteousness that is generated from self, not a righteousness that is the free gift of God and only available through Jesus Christ. A follower of Islam seeks to be good enough to get into heaven. Moslems can never know whether or not they have been good enough. Christians can know that they are saved. All who put their faith in Jesus are born again. According to Islam, the only sure way for followers of Islam to be saved is to die as a martyr.
Many Islamic clerics are teaching that Moslems can become martyrs and be assured of going to heaven if they will strap bombs to their bodies and blow themselves up while killing Christians. To be sure, all clerics are not teaching this, but many are teaching it.
Besides not providing a means of salvation and reconciliation to the Father other than by human-generated “righteousness,” there are several other differences. Islam seeks to establish control of the government and use the government to coerce and limit other religions. Islam does not present a God who is love and who has great mercy and care for His people. The Bible tells us of God who is love. The Bible tells us of God who has great mercy and concern for His people and longs to fellowship with His own people.
Islam is not like Christianity.
