What is God's purpose for Christians?

God's Purpose Is To Have You Grow Up To Maturity.  God's purpose: you grow up into Him.  You become joined to Him in a wonderful close relationship that fulfills you and transfigures you.

Romans 8:28-29 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.   For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

This often misquoted passage of Scripture in Romans 8:28-29 tells us that God has a good purpose.  He is working all things together to bring about His good purpose.  His good purpose is that everyone who is called, those He knew about before He ever created anything, be conformed to the image of His Son, Jesus Christ.

Psalms 17:15 As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

God wanted you to be born into His family so that He could nurture you into full maturity.

2Corithians 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Ephesians 4:11 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Maturity will be marked by the right kind of fruit, love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, meekness, kindness, faith, and inner strength that comes from God.  

Spiritual maturity does not consist of learning the doctrine of a denomination, but it consists of dying to self and living to God.

Spiritual maturity will fully be shown to the world when we all come into the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to the measure of the stature of fullness of Christ.
