Da Vinci Code? Bible Transcriptions

   Answers   Bible Questions (Scoffers)   Written By Men?

The Bible Is Just A Book Written By Men, Isn’t It?

The idea in this question is that, since the authors were fallible human beings, the Bible is fallible.

Many people try to define exactly how the process of divine inspiration works.  This is not wise.  We can know some things about the inspired Word of God and how it was inspired.

The purpose of this question:  If the Bible is just the opinions of men, then are not my opinions just as valid?  If that is true, I can do what I want and continue in my rebellion against God.  I can claim that God never made it clear that I was to obey.  For many people, they want to disobey one or two of God’s precepts (for instance: perversions of marriage, greed, or cruelty).

For most, it is just a desire to run their own lives separated from God, making their own decisions and not seeking complete unity with The Almighty God and His Love.  This is the definition of iniquity.  God has a plan for every aspect of our lives and He has designed us to be joined to Him in a wonderful way where we are constantly in submission to His will and He guides, directs, and empowers every thought, word, and action of our lives every moment of the day and night.  That is the purpose and the goal.

From Testing:

Thousands of people have tried to find inconsistencies in Scripture or things that would conflict with what can easily be observed.  They have spent billions of dollars, often from tax money, to find errors.  To date, they have been unsuccessful.

From the Bible itself:

Hebrews 1:1-2 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

2 Peter 1:20-21 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.  For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration [literally: God breathed] of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Luke 2:23 (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;)

Revelations 22:19  And if anyone takes away from the Words of the Book of this prophecy, God will take away his part out of the Book of Life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which have been written in this Book.

John 10:35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

Luke 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

1Corinthians 2:9-10 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us [the apostles] by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.   For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.  Now we [the apostles] have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.  Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.  But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Deuteronomy 29:29 The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

Ephesians 3:5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;

It’s clear that the Bible is authoritative but that it must be revealed and interpreted by the Holy Spirit.  God does set special ministries to receive revelation.  In our self-glorification age, that may not be politically correct to say so, but it is true none the less.
