Speculation vs. Maturity.

Deuteronomy 29:29 There is a lot of speculation on the age of the earth. Some people love to argue about their made up stories. They reason, but their reasoning is rationalization. It is making up stories and then trying to make those made up stories sound as if they were sane. The practice of making up a story and declaring it to be truth is actually insanity. We are not dogmatically claiming to know that the Earth is 6,000 years old. We know that God created the Heavens and the Earth in six days and we know the number of generations between Adam and Christ. That's about it. Even though a plain reading of Scripture seems to indicate a young Earth; even though there is zero observed evidence and only circular reasoning and speculations that support old Earth stories, we can't even deny the possibility that God could have done something that Scripture doesn't hint at and that has left no scientific evidence. It is possible. It just is not worth the time to think about it. Many of the reasons for trying to argue for an old earth is to try to make the Bible conform to the theology of Naturalism or Evolutionism or both. Taken as the Bible is written would indicate six literal days of creation with all days using the same verbal form. However, the religions of Evolutionism and Naturalism both conflict with much of the Bible, particularly the creation account. Because these religions have become so very popular, the argument has come up. There is plenty of evidence for a young Earth and a recent creation:
How can we know anything about anything? That’s the real question |
