Apostles have authority to establish the pattern for the churches. From other Scriptures, we know that the apostles do not have many patterns that they ordain for all the churches but one pattern. That pattern is the pattern that God has revealed to the apostles and they are in unity regarding the pattern.:

1 Corinthians 7:17 "But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches."

Let God be true and every man a liar.

Apostles are given the responsibility of protecting the entire flock of God from the attack of the enemy, but with so many voices in the world, each one claiming to be the one that should be listened to, how can you know? You are responsible to be close enough to God so that you can tell the difference between false apostles and real apostles.
