2 Chronicles 4:2 gives an excellent example of the truth of the Bible. |
2 Chronicles 4:2 gives an excellent example of the truth of the Bible. Keep in mind that we know that the Bible is accurate because God has revealed this to us. He speaks to us when we read the Bible. He speaks to us when we do science--He speaks through His creation. He speaks to us through those who have been set in the Church to receive the revelation. He speaks to us through prophecy. Here is an example of God speaking to us through the Bible. He is telling us not to listen to ungodly counsel. Those who follow Christ will listen to Him and not to the ungodly. The following is a quote from a confused person: 2 Chronicles 4:2, "ten cubits from brim to brim, round...and a line of thirty cubits did encompass it" clearly states that pi=3.0. This is mathematically absurd, worse than a simple rounding error, and very easy to prove false, with a measuring tape if not simple reasoning. My point is; if not every statement in the Bible is true, why cannot each be thoughtfully weighed and considered before being strictly followed? Notice the reason for this person wanting the Bible to have errors: "why cannot each be thoughtfully weighed and considered before being strictly followed?" That is exactly what Eve did that started all the problems in the world. And this is how people make those problems worse. To try to explain truth to him who loves it not is but to give him more plentiful material for misinterpretation. George Macdonald Jesus said, "If you really want to obey God, you will know if what I teach comes from God or from me" The rejection of the revelation that comes from God is not an intellectual problem. It is a moral problem. Jesus said, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you: For everyone who asks receives; and he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to those who ask him? Matthew 7:7-11 You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. You can set the truth before someone, but you can't make anyone believe those things that they don't want to submit to. They have to want to obey God. How the Deception is PerformedWhen you expose the magician, everyone knows that it was a sleight of hand. Up until that point, the magician seems to be amazing. After being exposed, the magician looks silly. The building of the Temple under King Solomon was a major undertaking, and many details are provided in Scripture. Secular Humanists have used their odd mental process to magically assume some errors into the Bible regarding the measurements of the cast metal sea. Of course, it all turns out to be smoke and mirrors once again. Mark Boslough's article states: "I think that it is the mathematicians that are being irrational, and it is time for them to admit it," said Lawson. "The Bible very clearly says in I Kings 7:23 that the alter font of Solomon's Temple was ten cubits across and thirty cubits in diameter, and that it was round in compass." Of course, as you may have guessed, this statement contains a clever misquote. Here is the actual quote of I Kings 7:23, "He made the Sea of cast metal, circular in shape, measuring ten cubits from rim to rim and five cubits high. It took a line of thirty cubits to measure round it." Notice, there is no mention of diameter or circumference, nor does it state that these are exact measurements. That is because Boslough not only misquoted but also clipped the quote, leaving out vital information. Here is the rest of the story: "And it [was] an hand breadth thick, and the brim thereof was wrought like the brim of a cup, with flowers of lilies: it contained two thousand baths." 1Ki 7:26 Mystery solved! The result of quoting the Bible as it is written plus using the entire quote gives us the exact value for pi, not the 3.14 rounded number given by Boslow. By subtracting for the thickness of the bowl, one hand breadth, and compute the diameter, the resulting value for Pi comes as close to the to the exact true mathematical value for pi as can be computed using the crude mathematics that human beings have available. This particular hoax is very typical of the arguments of the ungodly such as Atheists or Agnostics and Liberal Christians who want to "prove" that the Bible has errors. You don't have to go to emails or blogs to see this sort of nonsense. You can turn on the nightly news or find this mindset in most movies, novels, magazines, video games, and classes. The anti-God people try to find some detail of error, grasping at straws. Often, through their own ignorance as in this case, they think that they have found an error. Wishful thinking clouds their corrupt minds and they can't think clearly. Then they write articles such as Boslough's sad work. For two-thousand years they have been trying to find an error or inconsistency and have found none. They have spent billions of dollars, often funded by taxing Christians, and yet they have not found an error. Since they cannot find any errors, they don't mind lying. Ungodly people are forced to hold on tightly to some basic presuppositions. These presuppositions are just simple-minded assumptions. They are filters and a way to censor out any information that supports the existence of God. They set up a web of rules to filter out God. They will only accept those things that conform to Naturalism, materialism, and uniformitarianism.
Whatever they observe that does not conform to this complex filter is censored. The way that it is censored can take several forms. The ungodly may boldly proclaim that, though the data appears to support God's version and refute the version of the ungodly, yet it still must be interpreted to mean just the opposite of what it does mean. A backup method that ungodly people use is to prophecy that in the future, science will be able to explain what they see as an anomaly. If that fails, they will hide the data, set it aside, or lie to keep the public from knowing the truth. The data clearly demolishes the story of the ungodly and clearly supports the reality of the Creator God, His Bible, and His abiding Presence in His people. When confronted with the obvious, a closed-minded ungodly person says, "I can't understand it." They are willingly ignorant because they refuse to hold God in their knowledge. The reality is that these people, for whatever reason, don't what to know the Creator. They don't want to truly know Jesus, their Creator.
