The Natural Man Cannot Receive God's Revelation |
If you have not read Stories Versus Truth, you may want to read that before reading this.
Sometimes, Christians think that because they have logic and observation (science) on their side that they can argue a Naturalist, Atheist, or Materialist into submission. They cannot. Christians are often unaware of what is really going on in these discussions, debates, and arguments. In fact, most Christians, in the way that they handle this argument, are actually taking a naturalistic and materialistic viewpoint. They are denying that God must reveal these things and they are claiming that they personally have the ability to open the eyes of the spiritually blind. Basic to the discussion is the fact that God does reveal in real time. If God doesn't reveal, there is no way that we could understand the Bible or science. In fact, if God doesn't reveal, there is actually no basis for logic. Logic must have a starting point. If God doesn't reveal, what would be the firm, indisputable starting point for any thought? The fact that you made it up? Miraculous revelation by the neurons of the human mind? Demonic revelation? Let's look at the facts. "The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned." 1 Corinthians 2:14 Christians have been so brainwashed into Naturalism that they think that they or anyone else can figure out the Bible. Some of them worship the Bible rather than worshiping the God Who wrote the Bible and Who is able to speak to them through the Bible. Some of them worship the creation rather than worshiping the Almighty Creator God Who made the creation and Who is able to speak to them through the creation. The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. All human thought can be followed back to the foundational proof or basis by repeatedly asking, "Why do you believe that is true?". Christianity is based on revelation. God reveals through the Bible. We followers of Christ don't put OUR OWN faith in the Bible but rather God gives His faith which comes by hearing and this hearing comes by the utterance (literal) of God. We know that the Bible is the Word of God and without error because God personally reveals that fact to us. Our basis is revelation. God also speaks to us through His creation (science), and when He speaks in this way, He always confirms His written Word, the Bible. Of course, Satan also speaks through creation and through the Bible, and those who prefer his message listen to him instead of listening to God. If a materialist were to follow his or her beliefs to their basis or foundation, they would end up in either circular reasoning or declaration with no supporting basis. Few materialists would ever be willing to do this, however.
