Fallacy of the Beard

Logical Fallacy of Continuum / Argument of the Beard / Fallacy of the Beard / Heap Fallacy / Heap Paradox Fallacy / Bald Man Fallacy / Continuum Fallacy / Line Drawing Fallacy / Sorites Fallacy

The fallacy of the beard is one of the many smokescreens that are used to cover the fact that the reasoning is based on one of the three fallacies of Agrippa's trilemma. Whenever a logical fallacy is committed, the fallacy has its roots in Agrippa's trilemma. All human thought (without Divine revelation) is based on one of three unhappy possibilities. These three possibilities are infinite regression, circular reasoning, or axiomatic thinking. This problem is known as Agrippa's trilemma. Some have claimed that only logic and math can be known without Divine revelation; however, that is not true. Without Divine revelation, neither logic nor math can be known. Science is also limited to the pragmatic because of the weakness on human reasoning, which is known as Agrippa's trilemma.

The logical fallacy of argument of the beard occurs when someone asserts that there is no definable moment or point on the line between two extremes.

Richard Dawkins' defense of pedophilia (https://ratiochristi.org/germanna/blog/post/ethics-week-richard-dawkins-defense-of-mild-pedophilia-is-seriously-flawed#.UsN4d7Tks3E)

Richard Dawkins maintains that there in no definitive line.

“If we don’t accept this horrible conclusion as true, then we can't accept even sane conclusions as true.”

There is no true premise given but only a smoke screen of contending that there is nothing that there is no line between what is true and what is false.

“Living cannot be distinguished from not living because the placement of a definitional line cannot be drawn between the two, so murder is non-existent.”

The statement of relativism that says that there are only shades of gray, no black or white.

The claim that we don’t always know right from wrong doesn’t mean there is no right or wrong. In fact, we have it by revelation that sin is leaving the way that leads to life and whatever is not of faith is sin, that is, whatever God doesn’t lead us to do is sin. God is always leading all of us from where we are to this way that leads to life. In each minute leading in every moment, we either acknowledge His leading and yield ourselves to His righteousness, or else we don’t. So, in this sense, there are no shades of gray, though we can be obedient in one thing and not in another, like the young man who had just gotten born again and was selling his TV because of all the awful garbage on it and at the same time cheating on his wife.
