1 And Jesus entered into Capernaum again after several days, and people heard that He was in His house. 2 And immediately many were gathered together, so that there was no room to receive them. No, not even outside the door, and He preached the utterance to them. 3 And they come to Him, bringing one who was paralyzed who was carried by four people. 4 And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was, plucking it out, they lowered the bed on which the paralyzed person lay. 5 When Jesus saw their supernatural belief and trust, He said to the paralyzed person, Child, your sins are sent away from you. 6 But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their innermost minds, 7 "Why does this man thus speak blasphemies? Who can send away sins except God only?" 8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in His spirit that they reasoned within themselves in this way, He said to them, "Why do you reason these things in your innermost minds? 9 Which is easier to say to the sick of the palsy, 'Your sins are sent from you,' or to say, 'Arise, and take up your bed, and walk?' 10 But so that you may know that the Son of man has power on Earth to send away sins, (He said to the sick of the palsy,) 11 I say to you, 'Arise and take up your bed and go your way into your house.'" 12 And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went out in front of them al, so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, "We have never seen anything like this. 13 And He went out again by the sea side, and all the crowd came to Him, and He taught them. 14 And as He was passing by, He saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector's desk and said to him, "Follow Me." And Levi arose and followed Him. 15 As Jesus was eating in His house, many tax collectors and sinners also sat together with Jesus and His disciples, for there were many, and they followed Him. 16 And when the scribes and Pharisees saw Him eat with tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, "How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?" 17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick do. I didn't come to call the righteous but sinners into a new mind." 18 And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees used to fast, and they came and asked Him, "Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast but Your disciples don't fast? 19 And Jesus said to them, "Can the children of the bride chamber fast while the Bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the Bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. 20 But the days will come, when the Bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they shall fast in those days. 21 Also, no one sews a piece of new cloth on an old garment, or else the new piece that completed the cloth pulls away from the old and the tear is made worse. 22 And no one puts new wine into old bottles or else the new wine bursts the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be made useless, but new wine must be put into new bottles. 23 He went through the corn fields on the Sabbath Day, and His disciples began to pick the ears of corn as they went. 24 And the Pharisees said to Him, "Why do they do that which is not lawful on the Sabbath Day?" 25 And He said to them, "Haven't you ever read what David did when he had need and was hungry, he, and those who were with him, 26 how he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar, the high priest, and ate the showbread, which is not lawful to eat except for the priests, and gave it to those who were with him also?" 27 And He said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath, 28 therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the Sabbath."
