v.1-5 Transfigured

Matthew 16:28-17:5 Truly I say to you that there are some standing here who shall not taste of death until they see the Son of man coming in His Kingdom. . . .  And after six days Jesus takes Peter, James, and John his brother and brings them up into a high mountain away from everyone and was transfigured before them, and His face shone like the Sun, and His clothing was white as the light.  And, look, Moses and Elijah appeared to them talking with Him.  Then Peter said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You will, let us make three tabernacles here, one for You and one for Moses and one for Elijah.  While he yet spoke, look, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and, look, a Voice out of the cloud, Which said, "This is My beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased; hear Him.

Jesus told them that some of them would not see death until they saw the Kingdom, and these three did see the Son of man coming in His Kingdom on the mount of transfiguration.  This transfiguration is the true Feast of Tabernacles, and it is the destiny of those who believe in Jesus.

Peter later wrote about this experience in 2 Peter 1:16.   He said, "we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you the power and coming [literal: abiding presence] of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty.  2 Peter 1:16-18  we made known to you the Power and Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty.  For He received honour and glory from God the Father, when there came such a Voice to Him from the excellent glory, "This is My beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased."  And we heard this Voice Which came from Heaven when we were with Him in the holy mountain.

Mark 9:1-7  And He said to them, "Truly I say to you that there are some of those who stand here who will not taste of death until they have seen the Kingdom of God come with power.  And after six days Jesus took Peter, and James, and John with Him and led them up into a high mountain apart by themselves, and He was transfigured [metamorphoo] before them.  And His clothing became shining, exceedingly white as snow, whiter than any professional cleaner could make them.  And Elijah with Moses appeared to them, and they were talking with Jesus.  And Peter said to Jesus, "Teacher, it is good for us to be here, and let us make three tabernacles, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah, for he didn't know what to say because they were terrified.  And there was a cloud that overshadowed them, and a Voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is my beloved Son; hear Him."

Luke 9:27-36 But I tell you of a truth that there are some standing here who shall not taste of death until they see the Kingdom of God."  About an eight days after these utterances, He took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.  And as He prayed, the appearance of His Face was altered and His clothing was white like flashing lightning.  And, two men talked with Him who were Moses and Elijah who appeared in glory and spoke of His death which He would fulfill at Jerusalem.  But Peter and those who were with Him were heavy with sleep, and when they were awake, they saw His glory and the two men that stood with Him; as those departed from Him, Peter said to Jesus, "Teacher, it is good for us to be here, and let's make three tabernacles, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah." not knowing what he was saying.  While he spoke in this way, a cloud came and overshadowed them, and they were in reverential obedience as they entered into the cloud.  And a Voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son: hear Him.  And when the Voice was past, Jesus was found alone.  And they kept it quiet and told no one in those days any of those things that they had seen.

1 Peter 4:12-13 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you:But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ\'s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed [Apokalupsis: removal of a covering or veil], ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. Suffering is one of many forms of temptation.  When we suffer, we are also drawn...

It appears to be something that occurs suddenly but that we walk into progressively.  It is receiving what Jesus already paid for.  For those who are faithful, it will be a day of light, and it will be just one more step.  It will not come as a thief in the night.  For the unfaithful, it will come suddenly as a thief in the night.  It will be a day...

Romans 8:18-23 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed [Apocalypse, Unveiling] in us. For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation [Apocalypse, Unveiling] of the sons [huios, mature sons] of God. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same...

Great Babylon of the Apocalypse is the confusion of voices. It is the divided church, squabbling, making merchandise of the saints and of religion. It is the divisional denominational system that has the unbelievers so mixed up that they wonder who they should believe. Babylon has come into existence from man-made forms, rituals, and governments--church orders that in no way reflect the orders that are established in Scripture. How many 1...

Romans 2:5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up to thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation [Apokalupsis: removal of a covering or veil] of the righteous judgment of God; Apocalypse (two Greek words, apokalupsis, and apokalupto meaning approximately the same thing) Literally, it means the removal of a covering or a veil. God often provides the interpretation of Scripture within Scripture. There is one Scripture that...

The entire creation is waiting for the manifestation, the unveiling, of the sons of God. Romans 8:19  For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. The word, manifestation, is a translation of the Greek word, apocalypse.  The Greek word, apocalypse, means, "the removal of a veil."  The only Biblical reference that explains this metaphor is a reference to Jesus that explains that the...
