| v. 23 All Fall Short |
|
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Sometimes we get the wrong idea that God is looking for people who, through self-effort, do more righteousness than some other people or who meet or exceed some standard. That's not the case. God is looking for a relationship. He made human beings for the purpose of fellowship, to have his glory flow through us in mighty streams of love. Contained in that love, which is the essence of God Himself, is joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, meekness, faith, and inner strength, all of which are only in us because of the flow of the Holy Spirit in us. God will eventually have people who walk in perfection before Him, never falling short. There are not too many Christians who believe that they will walk around heaven bound up by sin. Some believe that death will free them from sin. Some believe that a rapture will free them from sin. Some believe that they are already free from sin--I don't know how they can believe that, but some believe it. The Bible talks about a day when even our bodies are redeemed and when the veil of flesh will be removed and there will be such unity among Christians that they will all come as if they were one perfect man to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. In the meantime, we don't need to compare ourselves with each other, because we all come short of the glory of God.
How can we know anything about anything? That’s the real question |
