Tactic of Projecting a Popular ImageThe tactic of projecting a popular image occurs when a popular image is cast for a person or an opinion rather than dealing with the soundness of the argument. Most tactics use other forms of logical fallacy. The tactic of projecting a popular image may use such fallacies as demagoguery, association techniques (getting endorsements of popular people or organizations), class warfare (pitting the poor against the rich using the empty emotion of envy), conspiracy theories, etc. Examples of the Tactic of Projecting a Popular ImageUnpopular government programs that are promoted by spending millions on advertising. Politicians, televangelists, and movie stars who carefully guard their public image using many presentation and public relations techniques.
