Speculation is Fabrication

If you have not read Stories Versus Truth, you may want to read that before reading this.

Here are three problems with that

  1. First, God forbids speculation on Scripture. He calls it adding to and taking from His Word.  This is true of the Bible.  This is true of His Creation.
  2. Second, God does not want us seeking ungodly counsel.
  3. Third, God wants us to seek His revelation. He doesn't want us leaning on our own understanding.

Of the three, the third is the most important, but it is deeply related to the first and second problem.

Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your heart. Whenever Scripture is read, God speaks through it. All Scripture is God-breathed. When you read the following, you are hearing the voice of God. Exodus 20:11 "For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day." This is real authority. What does it actually say--without any theological interpretation or rationalization? God says that we are not to add to His words nor are we to take from them. Ask God what that means.

(some caveats about hearing God's Voice)

Old-earthers guess that the earth must be very old by circular reasoning and wishful thinking.

Chart explaining how time from the Creation to the present can be calculated using Scripture?

Scientific method does not, in itself, have the capacity to prove either a young or an old Earth. Both positions, old earth and young earth, use the same scientific facts to come to very different conclusions based on either presupposition or direct revelation.  Some would say it this way: the differences are in the beliefs, and those beliefs are based either in presuppositions or in revelation.  The same applies to Evolution.  Scientists apply scientific method in order to use their beliefs to make speculations that are consistent with those beliefs about what happened in the past.  Some are aware that this is the process that they are using, but most, especially those on the side of Evolutionism and Old-Earthism, are totally oblivious to their bias.  Logic can only have at its basis one of three things: revelation, circularity, or assumption (which is vapor).

More people leave the Church because they have been fooled by Old-Earth stories than for any other reason. The Old Earth myths have denied the authority of the Word of God. At the same time God's love for those who have been deceived by the Old-Earth dogma compels God to speak to them daily through His creation and through other means; they will not listen to Him. They often become Atheists and reject God entirely. Many if not most Christians who follow the Old-Earth Mythology end up living their lives as if they were Atheists. They begin to deny other aspects of the Word of God. They often will deny that there is only One Way to God, Jesus Christ. They often will begin to accept perversions of marriage of all sorts, including sex outside of marriage.

It is possible to believe the teachings of the Old-Earthers and also believe that Jesus exists; however, the same Jesus testifies to us through our spirits that He is the creator and that the Bible is His Word without error. There is only one place in Scripture that would possibly allow for an old Earth, but that place would not allow for any form of Darwinism. In fact, even in that one place, the only reason anyone would want to say that enormous amounts of time had passed would be based on speculation alone, and God forbids such speculation regarding His revelation. Those who follow Old-Earth teachings need to listen to Jesus when He tells them that it is in Him alone that they can find life, peace, joy, fulfillment, love, righteousness, and every other good thing. They think that millions of years of random chance have formed the Earth and reject the idea of a sovereign God. They think that death preceded sin, but the Bible tells us that death is caused by sin. There is no such story in any implied in Scripture, in the creation, or by the Holy Spirit.

Old-Earthism is a dogma of Atheism. Atheists don't realize that they were created to be joined to Jesus Christ, to have a continual flow of the Anointing of His Holy Spirit through them so that the Spirit will continually lead them and the Creator will do His work through them. Many Christians have followed such teachings and found themselves living as if they were Atheists, accepting such doctrines as Naturalism, Materialism, and Uniformitarianism, the axioms based solely on circular reasoning. Those who believe the teachings of Old-Earthism are often blind to the fact that they were created to walk from glory to every-increasing glory by the Spirit of God. They don't realize that God created things that were good, knowing that mankind would sin but also knowing that He could win mankind back to Himself through love, and that the final state of creation would be far superior to the beginning state. Those who believe the teachings of Old-Earthism are trapped in their own desires and tangled in the many lies that come from the father of all lies. If they did listen, God would set them free.

Many Christians have stopped walking by faith because of speculations regarding the age of the earth. These speculations usually put death before sin, eliminate the world-wide flood and replace it with millions of years, and eliminate the creation and replace it with billions of years. If death is before sin, then sin does not cause death. If sin does not cause death, that destroys the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

That's a good question. What would be wrong with that?

Here are again are the three problems with that

  1. First, God forbids speculation on Scripture. He calls it adding to and taking from His Word.
  2. Second, God does not want us seeking ungodly counsel.
  3. Third, God wants us to seek His revelation. He doesn't want us leaning on our own understanding.

Of the three, the third is the most important, but it is deeply related to the first and second problem.

If we speculate that there might have been a previous creation that left no evidence, no physical remains, and that God didn't even hint about in Scripture, why would we care?  We can't deny the possibility that God could have done something that Scripture doesn't hint at and that has left no scientific evidence. It is possible. It just is not worth the time to think about it. Seek the leading of the Lord, and don't lean on your own understanding.
