The Natural Goodness of Humans

I was in a Social Security presentation yesterday, and what was interesting to me was that the presenter kept making Biblical references. These references either made the Federal Government into the Church or else they made the Federal Government into God. That's part of totalitarianism when the government becomes everything to everybody. That's why Christian pastors in China go to jail. The only pastors must be in the State churches.

A recent "Faith Under Fire" program included a letter from a Christian viewer with a misconception.The viewer contended that a certain elected official was not a very "good Christian" because the elected official was not doing enough to help the poor.The government is not the Church.The Church's duty is not to use the government to coerce unbelievers into helping the poor.The Christian is not to be using the government taxation to try to get unbelievers to do what is right.Church members are to reach into their own pockets.They are to give to the Church.The Church is to help the poor.They are also supposed to help the poor directly as much as they can.

These two incidents show that something terrible has happened to the separation of Church and State (a phrase that does not exist and is not even implied in the Constitution).The State has become a pseudo-church.The separation is now between God and the State pseudo-church.Who runs this godless pseudo-church?Read on for the answer.

There is a philosophy that is exactly opposed to Biblical Christianity.The Bible says that we are all sinners, that not one of us is just, that there is no good in us.It teaches that, without Christ, we are all doomed to continue following our own evil ways.It teaches salvation through Jesus alone, and that salvation includes forgiveness and also freedom from our universal natural slavery to sin.

The ungodly philosophy is a political theory founded on the natural goodness of humans.That is the dictionary definition of this political theory.Obviously, this is also a theological theory, but it is an anti-Bible theology.According to this philosophy, there would be no need for Christ; no one would need to be forgiven or to be set free from the bondage to sin.
