Availability Heuristic FallacyThe availability heuristic is one of the many smokescreens that are used to cover the fact that the reasoning is based on one of the three fallacies of Agrippa's trilemma. Whenever a logical fallacy is committed, the fallacy has its roots in Agrippa's trilemma. All human thought (without Divine revelation) is based on one of three unhappy possibilities. These three possibilities are infinite regress, circular reasoning, or axiomatic thinking. This problem is known as Agrippa's trilemma. Some have claimed that only logic and math can be known without Divine revelation; however, that is not true. There is no reason to trust either logic or math without Divine revelation. Science is also limited to the pragmatic because of the weakness on human reasoning, which is known as Agrippa's trilemma. The Availability Heuristic Fallacy occurs when whatever comes to mind is thought to be the most important information for decision-making. Here is the problem: the easier something is to remember (or imagine) the more likely it seems to be. When seeking God's will, there is often a time of waiting for Him to answer. This isn't because He needs time to think of an answer. It is usually because the seeker needs time to get his or her mind ready to receive the answer from God. It is human nature to be impatient and to jump ahead. God says, "If they will stand in My Presence, I will speak to them." It is also human nature to think that whatever is presently in the conscious is valid. Test all things. This is the command of God. There are times when God speaks through a person immediately. This seems to happen more often when the person has God-appointed authority to deal with a certain issue. Examples of the Availability Heuristic FallacyPolitical campaigns try to create vivid, emotional talking points that will be easily remembered--especially after they are repeated many times. The "Cosmos" series is a slick presentation slanting the facts so that they artificially seem to support the Big-Bang-Billions-of-Years-No-Flood-Molecules-to-Man story. This is designed to create memories in the minds of kids that will apply the availability heuristic fallacy for years to promote what is, in essence, a religious dogma.
