Does The Bible Say There Were Six Literal Days Of Creation?
How old does the Bible say that the earth is?There are gap theories that claims an old earth based on the Bible. Most of these theories are neither consistent with science nor consistent with the Bible. There are also some who point out that the word, in Scripture, which in Hebrew transliteration would be Yom or Yowm, has the following meanings: 1) day, time, year a) day (as opposed to night) b) day (24 hour period) 1) as defined by evening and morning in Genesis 1 2) as a division of time a) a working day, b) a day's journey c) days, lifetime (pl.) d) time, period (general) e) year f) temporal references 1) today 2) yesterday 3) tomorrow If a Yowm were an eon, or even a thousand eons, this wouldn't help the paradigm of theology of Evolutionism. In fact, time works against. The Evolutionism's paradigm doesn't work by any stretch of the imagination. Basically, it doesn't work because of the second law of thermodynamics, the proven law of entropy. And no exception to the law of entropy has ever been found. Evolution would require a major exception to the second law of thermodynamics . . . an exception that does NOT exist. There is no known mechanism that will add information by random chance. Such a phenomenon has never been observed. Millions of tax dollars have been wasted in trying to find a way, but no such phenomenon has been discovered. The context of the way the Yowm is used, however, indicates that it is a normal day--a 24 hour day. Furthermore, in Exodus 20:11, the same word, Yowm is used: "For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day." That is pretty simple and it should settle the matter. Psalms 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly The real problem is not one of proving the earth to be a certain age from either scientific observation (an exercise in circular reasoning) or from the Bible. The real problem is that some Christian theologians have been standing in the councel of the ungodly on this and many other matters. They have been standing at the feet of atheists and liars. They have been brought into bondage by those lies. Some theologians say that the first three days of creation were billions of years long, but the next three days were 24 hours. That would be kind of inconsistent, but they have a rationalization to get around that inconsistency. The problem is that these Christians are going through these mental gymnastics for one reason. These Christians stood in the counsel of the ungodly. They learned about the billions of years from the ungodly. They became brainwashed and felt a need to conform the Bible to the teachings of the ungodly. Exodus 20:11, For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is This verse shows the extreme twisting of scripture that is required by those who sit in the counsel of the ungodly. For in six days--oh, by the way, some of these days were actually billions of years--the LORD made . . . Could it possibly be true? Sure. Is it highly speculative and weird? Yes. Why would someone spend a lot of energy on such a question? Those who have been sitting in the counsel of the ungodly are held captive by the lies of the ungodly. Keep in mind that there is nothing in real science that refutes the Biblical account of six literal days. For instance, some say that distant starlight would take too long to get to earth, but that assumes that God created everything from nothing by natural means. Of course God used supernatural means. He is almighty. Natural means would not allow everything to be created from nothing. Every other objection of pseudo-science is just as silly as that one. And then, some will say that the “evening” and the “morning” could have other renderings as well. The words translated as evening and morning can also be translated as beginning and ending, so they do not help to specify these six days as twenty-four hour days. But, again, all of this is really immaterial in regard to the evolution question since long periods of time in no way make evolution possible. Evolution remains a scientific impossibility. A six-day creation by the Almighty is obviously possible and seems to be exactly what happened. The circular reasoning in the scientific community that is used to create an old earth is a testimony against the old earth story. It doesn't prove the theology false, but it does show that some people will stop at just about nothing to prove an old earth. Why? Sometimes, the motivation for all this speculation may even be to make room for the theory of evolution. What’s the motivation behind wanting to make room for the theory of evolution? God knows their heart completely. That’s why He is the righteous judge. Adam was commanded by God, be fruitful and multiply, so it is highly unlikely that Adam was in the garden much longer than nine months. Adam’s first son was born after Adam and Eve were put out of the garden. Some theologians want to speculatively rational-lies a creation of dinosaurs before the six days of creation. That doesn't fit the facts. Dinosaurs were mentioned in the Bible. Of course, the translators of the Bible used the word, “dragon,” since the word, “dinosaur” had not yet been invented. According to the Bible, dinosaurs and humans obviously co-existed. In addition, the whole geologic column appears to have been formed by a great flood where all animals and plants including humans co-existed. This so-called theory of a separate creation for dinosaurs is simply another SSWAAFT. All of this is worthless rationalized supposition. Deuteronomy 29:29 There is a lot of speculation on the age of the earth. Some people love to argue about their made up stories. They reason, but their reasoning is rationalization. It is making up stories and then trying to make those made up stories sound as if they were sane. The practice of making up a story and declaring it to be truth is actually insanity. Many of the reasons for trying to argue for an old earth is to try to make the Bible conform to the theology of Naturalism or Evolutionism or both. Taken as the Bible is written would indicate six literal days of creation with all days using the same verbal form. However, the religions of Evolutionism and Naturalism both conflict with much of the Bible, particularly the creation account. Because these religions have become so very popular, the argument has come up.
