What is the difference between rationalism and rationalized speculation?

Rationalism
Reliance on reason (rationalized speculation) as the best guide for belief and action. The theory that the exercise of reason (rationalized speculation), rather than experience, observation, authority, or spiritual revelation, provides the primary basis for knowledge. Reason, in this definition, must not be confused with logic, because the rules of logic are based on repeated observation. This is a kind of "reason" that claims to be able to give revelations of truth beyond what can be observed or tested and claims that these revelations are superior to observation or testing or any other source of knowledge.

Romans 8:7  because the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the Law of God, neither indeed can it be.

A Christian's carnal mind isn't any better than an unbeliever's carnal mind.  Christ will reveal His will and ways progressively as we learn to walk fully in the Spirit and not according to the flesh.  Read all of Romans 6, 7, and 8 and ask Jesus to reveal it to you.  All who seek Him do find Him.
