Churches Lost The First Amendment Right To Freedom of Speech in 1954
In 1954, Lyndon Johnson instituted limits to free speech for churches. Prior to 1954, churches were free to speak out about any and every topic - without government limitations. Clergy have had a muzzle imposed by the absolute ban on all speech that may be regarded as "political." In the years following the Liberal's ban, Clergy are no longer free to speak out on all vital and moral and political questions of the day. ". . . the proselytizers of a new faith: a religion of humanity that recognizes and respects the spark of what theologians call divinity in every human being. These teachers must embody the same selfless dedication as the most rabid fundamentalist preachers, for they will be ministers of another sort . . . to convey humanist values in whatever subject . . ." “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press.” The Interfaith Alliance is a New York-based coalition of liberal religious groups that includes agnostics and atheists. It spends it’s time lashing out at America's leading Christian religious leaders. Walter Cronkite, former CBS anchorman, is Honorary Chairman for Interfaith Alliance. That agnostics and atheists are included in this coalition of religious groups may seem odd, but agnosticism and atheism have all the markings of religions. A religion can be a religion even if it's god is self and not the true God. It's just a false religion. It’s called the culture war, two religions each wanting to control. There are people from both sides who say that the other religion should keep out of politics and shouldn't try to influence anyone. The left side tends to draw members of several naturalistic and materialistic religions, including Atheism, Agnosticism, and Secular/Religious Humanism. Some naturalistic religionists feel that all U.S. Laws should be based on the precepts of the naturalistic and materialistic religions rather than the precepts of Judeo-Christian heritage. Some vocal materialists and naturalists feel that Christians and Jews should not have a voice at all. This is an interesting position given the numbers of Christians and Jews in comparison to the number of people who want to silence them. Lynden Johnson twisted the Constitution and stole the First Amendment rights of the Church during his stay in office, and the the anti-God side of the culture war has continued twisting the Constitution since that time. Atheism, Agnosticism, or Humanism are on the naturalistic side of the New Age networking religions. Some of the main precepts that they take on human faith are Materialism, Naturalism, Uniformitarianism, Evolutionism, and Rationalism, which is the belief that the human mind can reveal knowledge without the benefit of observation. These naturalistic religions look to the god of the human, the god of intellect, the god of self, and/or the god of sensual pleasure. The First Amendment of the Constitution, among other things, says: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press.” Oddly, the Naturalists interpret these words of the First Amendment to mean that the freedom of speech of the Christian religion shall be abridged. But the Constitution actually says that free speech shall not be abridged. It doesn't say that anyone's free speech can be abridged. Here's another weird thing; the Secularists go outside the Constitution to a personal letter written by Thomas Jefferson. That personal letter mentions the words, “separation of Church and State.” Going outside the Constitution to decide what the Constitution says is a bit strange, but it gets worse. Thomas Jefferson was making the point, in his letter, that the State should stay out of the Church’s business, not that the Church should stay out of the State’s business. The Naturalists, however, turn that around to say just the opposite of what it actually says. The Bible says that the deep respect for God is the beginning of wisdom. It also says that the fool has said in his heart that there is no God. At the same time, It puzzles me anyone can have such an inability to understand a simple statement like this: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press.” How could they think that the Secularist religions should be established to have free speech and that we should prohibit the free exercise of the Christian religion and abridge the freedom of speech of the Christian religion? A 2005 poll shows that 82% of Americans identify themselves as Christians. About 5% of Americans believe in Darwinian evolution. Why would anyone think that all those Christians should have no say but that the small group of Naturalists should control the State? Why do the Naturalists think that only their thoughts are valid and that Christian thought processes, judgments, and understandings are not valid? Additionally, these Naturalist/Materialist religions have a nasty and violent history. Even when the Catholic Church wandered away from the Bible and from Jesus Christ during the dark ages, they didn’t even begin to approach the violence of Materialism and Atheiam. They are the religious force behind Hitler, Mussolini, the U.S.S.R., Red China, North Korea, Vietnam, and virtually every totalitarian government. They have a record of being particularly brutal toward Christians. And they want to control the 82% of all Americans who self-identify as Christians. Were it not for Christ, we would all act this way. Pray for those who act violently that they turn to Jesus, the source of all love and peace. Note: Our lawmakers in Washington are working on legislation, as of 2005, that may return freedom of speech to the churches in America. We need to return the right to free speech, which was stolen by liberal activist judges under Lyndon Johnson. Author/Compiler: Bob Stenson (unless otherwise noted) Last updated: 2008-10-18 08:35:14 |
