The faith of God is different in substance and in authority from worldly pseudo-faith.

• Worldly pseudo-faith is merely presumption or self-confidence.
• The faith of God is a gift from God.
  • As with all spiritual gifts, it flows from the Father.
  • It is a substance. Specifically, it is the substance of things hoped for. Hope is also a gift from God, and true hope has eyes to see what God is going to do. This is not, "I hope so" hope.
  • It is evidence. In fact, it is the very evidence of the things not seen.
  • It comes by hearing, but not by hearing just anything. You must hear a word from God, that is, an utterance from God.

Romans 14:23 tells us simply that anything that is not of faith is sin. Faith comes from God. (James 1:17) Faith comes by hearing the word of God. (Romans 10:17) It is possible to read the Bible and not hear the word of God. (2 Corinthians 3:14)

John 7
38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Lately, we have been hearing more and more about the glorification of the human spirit. To a member of the New Age or Secular religions, the human spirit is the source of salvation. There is another Spirit that is available to any person who will receive Him. This Spirit is the Spirit of God; it is the Spirit of Christ. All of New Age and all of Secularism is led and empowered by the human spirit. All of those who are following Jesus Christ are led and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Real faith is a supernatural belief that comes from God. It is not human pseudo-faith. Human pseudo-faith is fake--not real. Human pseudo-faith is a rationalized belief with no real basis. It is a self-generated blind belief. Real faith is the faith of God and it must come from God. It comes by hearing, that is hearing an utterance from God. God speaks. God speaks to every person either by a word, by a Christian, by the Bible, by nature, by a vision, by a dream, or by other means. He speaks to us to draw us to Jesus. When we receive His word, His leading, faith comes. When we reject His leading, no faith comes, we don't have faith. This is devastating because our only access to grace is through faith and grace is the only way to have righteousness, since it is grace alone that does good works in us.
