| Local Pastors? |
|
The Bible says nothing about local pastors. This is purely a man-made construct that conflicts with the pattern plainly shown in Scripture. Interestingly, there is no mention ever of a single elder or bishop in a local church. There is no mention of a chief elder. There is no mention of a locally abiding pastor, although the elders are told to pastor (care for as a shepherd cares for sheep) the flock of God. In the scriptural order, the local elders and deacons are set by the Holy Spirit through traveling elders and deacons (the office of apostle). Many have tried to return to the order of local elders and deacons, but like part of a body, they don't function that well unless they are under apostles. Apostles were established in the great outpouring that began in 1948. In this move of the Spirit of God, local elders and deacons were later established. These are not orders that will allow man-made self-exalting schemes to survive. Many who have invested much into un-scriptural systems will suffer loss when their work is tested by the fire of God.
