Comment--Reader Claims a Place for Christian Transcendental Meditation (TM):You've totally missed the boat on Transcendental Meditation (TM. I use Transcendental Meditation (TM)techniques regularly as part of my christian walk. My mantra is one of the names of God. I seriously doubt that a demon is being summoned by one the names of God. It's amazing how many christians think that TM is demonic. There's nothing demonic about it. It's just a wild criticism at something you don't understand. You seem to think that anything that comes from an Eastern country is part of idol worship or something. If you think that clearing your mind is a bad thing, then don't bother cleaning your house, your car or anything. Keep everything messy. All TM does is quiet all of the noisy thoughts going on in your head. It actually gives you an ability to focus on what you need to hear instead of having all of the stuff that goes on in your mind. You choose what you think about, TM doesn't change what you think about, it simply gives you the ability to still your heart and mind. All of this hype about it is crazy. I don't promote it, but it's certainly not what you characterize it to be. Look at the fruit from it. I mean look at it objectively, not with your "I know it's wrong" attitude. That's when you'll learn the truth about it. Let's face it, a lie is a lie, and when you make up (expletive removed) about something you don't understand it's a lie. Note: Some of the extraneous parts of this comment have been edited out. SeekFind.net Answer:What you are calling Transcendental Meditation (TM) is not what SeekFind.net calling TM. There is a Christian mantra method that is being used, and I too was involved in it. In fact, the author of the TM article was deeply involved in it. He got involved through several different sources. It was a teaching that he had fully immersed myself in and he had done much study. In fact, he founded a large Center that taught these techniques and many other New Age techniques. He repented of this after God dealt with him. He was in it because he was seeking God. Later, he found out that he was trying to come to God through his own efforts. He had the Book of Galatians in his Bible, but God was not able to speak to him through the Bible during this time in his life. He gave himself fully to these New Age and Eastern methods and techniques for about 10 years until God led him out of them and set him straight. He thought that by these methods he would find the Kingdom of God and enter into the manifestation of the Sons of God. Then, God spoke to him about these things. God had to speak to him by many methods, and he did have to suffer some of God's rod of correction, before he would believe God rather than what he had been taught. He finally found out that God has provided everything that is needed right in the Bible. He found out that now, through God's Church, God is showing His wisdom to the principalities and powers and overcoming all spiritual wickedness. There was a man who had been taught to say, "I love you Jesus." repeatedly, and this man continued to walk with God into deeper depths and higher heights. One night when God wanted to take him even higher, God woke him up as he was repeating this mantra even in his sleep. God said, "Stop that. Tell your wife that you love her." You are right about one thing. Though you didn't state it directly, the fact that you are applying the mantra technique means that you are seeing that the battle is for the mind. In fact, the word, soul, is also translated as mind, heart, and life. The reality, though, is that the mind has to be changed by God using God's methods--not any other methods. Our great task is to allow God to lead us into the spiritual realm and allow God to do the work in us. Our task is submission. You may not be open to this right now, but there may be a day down the road when you will remember this. The Holy Spirit will bring it to you.
