| Transfiguring Power |
|
If you ask yourself whether or not you are missing out on God's transforming, transfiguring power, what is the answer? Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Are you being transfigured by the renewing of your mind? Notice that the transformation is in the passive voice. This means that it is happening to you; you are not doing it. Jesus paid for all of this on the cross. It's already yours, but will you receive it? Just as you had the ability to reject Jesus, you have the ability to reject all that God has given us freely through the blood of Jesus. Yes, we know that, based on foreknowledge, God was able to predestine, but choice is also part of Scripture. Since both predestination and choice are in Scripture, both are true, and they are not mutually exclusive as some theologians think they are. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Romans 8:26-29 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
