Idola Specus FallacyIdola specus is one of the reasons that the human mind is limited to basing reasoning on the three fallacies of Agrippa's trilemma. Whenever a logical fallacy is committed, the fallacy has its roots in Agrippa's trilemma. All human thought (without Divine revelation) is based on one of three unhappy possibilities. These three possibilities are infinite regress, circular reasoning, or axiomatic thinking. This problem is known as Agrippa's trilemma. Some have claimed that only logic and math can be known without Divine revelation; however, that is not true. There is no reason to trust either logic or math without Divine revelation. Science is also limited to the pragmatic because of the weakness on human reasoning, which is known as Agrippa's trilemma. \ The Idola Specus Fallacy occurs when the peculiar biases of individuals lead them to errors. This has to do with worldviews, which are also called paradigms, filters, or fake-realities. This is closely related to Fantasy Projection / Worldview Projection / Fake-Reality Projection / Paradigm Projection / Context Projection. Examples of the Idola Specus FallacySandy: "Of course Naturalism is a fact. It's impossible to do science without it." Rocky: "Naturalism is just another word for Atheism. It provides no mechanism for the natural laws. If you assume Naturalism, then you have to just assume natural laws to do science. Knowing that Christ is faithfully enforcing all the natural laws gives reason to do science." Sandy: "Naturalism is obvious." The unspoken problem here is that Sandy knows that God exists. God has made Himself (and a lot about Himself including His just and holy nature) obvious to Sandy. Sandy is "suppressing this truth in unrighteousness. Sandy hates the fact that God is going to judge him for his thoughts, words, and deeds against God. So, to keep himself from knowing this, Sandy has built himself a worldview that has no God. It is a very inconsistent worldview. Sandy has a wife. He shows love to her. He has kids. He shows love to them. He obeys many of the laws of God. He doesn't kill people who irritate him. He doesn't steal, except for small, insignificant things, and he has had ample opportunity. He looks at himself as being a good person, but Naturalism doesn't allow for good and evil. There are just material things according to the naturalistic part of his worldview, yet, he has this internal inconsistency. There are Sandys, from time to time, who live a consistent, Naturalistic worldview. They are the ones who regularly kill, steal, etc.
