v35 gods? |
John 10:35 If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; Often, the Scripture doesn't say what we want to hear, but it still cannot be broken. Scripture often disagrees with human ideas and theologies and theories. But the ideas, theologies and theories are soon disgarded as they are shown to be false and foolish. This Scripture seems to refer to the fact that each person becomes his or her own idol. All these religious big shots were so upset because Jesus said that He was Son of God, but they all were little gods in their own minds. Jesus had a right to say that He is Son of God. He is God. They did not have the right to set themselves up as gods. Also, when someone is sent in the Name of Jesus, they come with all the authority of God. They come with the presence of God. If they speak, as the Scripture commands, as the oracle of God, then it is God Who is speaking through them. If they do works by grace through faith, then it is not they who do the works, but it is God. God does the works. We are a bit timid in claiming this authority since we are often drawn away by our own fleshly natures, but the Christ in us cannot sin. He is the Spiritual Man. (1 Jn. 3:4-11)
