John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

The meaning of life is to know God and Jesus Christ, His Son.

No one can come to God except through Jesus Christ.  Many scriptures confirm this.

Knowing God means much more than knowing about God.  Theologians are not guaranteed the privilege of knowing God, but everyone who seeks Him does find Him. 

Those who seek a spiritual experience will get some sort of spiritual experience, but those who seek God will find God.  God will reveal Jesus to them and they will repent of their sin and receive the free gift of eternal life... which is the same as knowing God.  They will come into a family relationship with God.  Their eyes will be opened.  They will begin to see the <"" />Kingdom of God. 

As they continue in their walk, obedience to the Spirit of God will cause their senses to be exercised by reason of use.  That is the same as saying that obedience leads to spiritual maturity.  Disobedience, on the other hand, leads to spiritual immaturity and causes the conscience to be seared.  Eventually, a person may come to the point where the spiritual senses are so dulled that they completely come disconnected from the Head, Jesus Christ.
