What is a liberal?

Are those who call themselves, "liberal," misleading us by using the term?  Look at the dictionary definition of "liberal" followed by an explanation of the true meaning of the word as it is used by liberals in the press today.  It's not the dictionary's fault that the liberals have twisted the meaning by applying the word in strange ways in the media.  They wouldn't be able to deceive by equivocation effectively if they didn't control almost all of the media and educational system in the United States and around the world.

liberal

adj 1: showing or characterized by broad-mindedness; "a broad political stance"; "generous and broad sympathies"; "a liberal newspaper"; "tolerant of his opponent's opinions" [syn: broad, large-minded, tolerant] 2: having political or social views favoring reform and progress 3: tolerant of change; not bound by authoritarianism, orthodoxy, or tradition [ant: conservative] 4: given or giving freely; "was a big tipper"; "the bounteous goodness of God"; "bountiful compliments"; "a freehanded host"; "a handsome allowance"; "Saturday's child is loving and giving"; "a liberal backer of the arts"; "a munificent gift"; "her fond and openhanded grandfather" [syn: big, bighearted, bounteous, bountiful, freehanded, handsome, giving, openhanded] 5: not literal; "a loose interpretation of what she had been told"; "a free translation of the poem" [syn: free, loose] n 1: a person who favors a political philosophy of progress and reform and the protection of civil liberties [syn: progressive] [ant: conservative] 2: a person who favors an economic theory of laissez-faire and self-regulating markets

The problem is that, in America, all the media outlets use the word, "liberal," in a way that is almost totally inconsistent with the definition above.

adj

1: showing or characterized by broad-mindedness; "a broad political stance"; "generous and broad sympathies"; "a liberal newspaper"; "tolerant of his opponent's opinions" [syn: broad, large-minded, tolerant]

Those who are called, "liberal," by the media are not broad-minded at all. The are only open to liberal ideas. They are not open, for instance, to the idea that the Bible is the Word of God and that it is without error. They are not open to the idea that there is only one way to approach God, and that is through God’s free gift of His only unique Son, Jesus Christ. They are not open to the teaching of the Bible regarding many subjects such as marriage, property, the Sabbath, creation, the great world-wide flood, and many other subjects.

2: having political or social views favoring reform and progress

Well, that would depend on what you would call reform or progress. The people who are called liberal by the media certainly do want to reform the world to conform to liberal principles, redefining marriage, redefining morals, redefining the Bible, redefining the family, redefining the U.S. Constitution, redefining history, redefining science and redefining many other things. They change science so that creative stories, untested formulas, carefully filtered and screened data, all to prove the primary liberal precept, which is the false notion that we are not responsible to God.

3: tolerant of change; not bound by authoritarianism, orthodoxy, or tradition [ant: conservative]

Those who are called, "liberal," are tolerant of change providing that change does not bring them into surrender to God and His Christ. They become violent when they think of moving toward sincere submission to the Creator of the Universe. When they think of those who are filled with the Holy Spirit, they are just about beside themselves.  A Christian must be understanding and not be drawn into the same hate and violence.  Rather, a Christian who is led by the Spirit will respond in love and in peace.

They are not bound by authoritarianism, yet they favor socialism, which leads to totalitarianism. Totalitarianism is authoritarian to the point of being monstrous. They are against the authority of the Church, the Bible, Jesus Christ, and God. They favor the authority of Secular Humanism and other New Age religions.

4: given or giving freely; "was a big tipper"; "the bounteous goodness of God"; "bountiful compliments"; "a freehanded host"; "a handsome allowance"; "Saturday's child is loving and giving"; "a liberal backer of the arts"; "a munificent gift"; "her fond and openhanded grandfather" [syn: big, bighearted, bounteous, bountiful, freehanded, handsome, giving, openhanded]

The people who are called, "liberal," by the media are very giving as long as at least one of two conditions are met. They must be able to give away other people’s money, or they must be able to turn their giving into a publicity stunt. If they can give away money to one group of people by taking that money away from another group of people, then they can depend on the support of the group of people who are getting the money. This type of "liberal" has become expert in getting political power by creating people who become dependent on the "liberal" freebies. All of this costs the "liberals" nothing at all. They use other people’s money to get all this power. On the other hand are the liberals who make sure they get plenty of publicity when they do something for someone else. Often, the point of the giving is to prove to others or to the liberal that the liberal is a "good person."

5: not literal; "a loose interpretation of what she had been told"; "a free translation of the poem" [syn: free, loose] n 1: a person who favors a political philosophy of progress and reform and the protection of civil liberties [syn: progressive] [ant: conservative] 2: a person who favors an economic theory of laissez-faire and self-regulating markets

This is the one part of the dictionary definition that actually fits the people who are called "liberal" by the media. This type of liberal loves to interpret everything from the U.S. Constitution to scientific data to the Bible in very creative ways. These people add to the facts. They filter the facts. They change history to suit their objectives. They try to form laws to support their anti-Christian agenda.
