The Role of Politics
Pray Fervently. The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes. Proverbs 21:1 Follow the Scriptural Pattern: Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens: Exodus 18:21 A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof. Proverbs 21:22 Christians realize that we cannot fix a dying system. God did not intend, however, that Christians stop voting (in countries that allow voting.) Christians have a responsibility to speak up for what is right and to testify of Jesus The most glaring problem is that the Government (led by a handful of Secular Humanists and misguided Christians) has become bloated with thousands of laws and programs that are usurping the domain of Church. It is classic violation of the separation of Church and State. The Government has become a Secular Humanist "church." The problem with this is that God only gives anointing for that which He personally ordains. He sets human governments for protection and for encouraging to righteousness and serving God. He sets ministry for helping the poor, education, mercy, kindness, family counseling, teaching in righteousness, and things like this. Look at the Prophets, Priests, Kings and Judges in the Old Testament for an example of how this works in God's economy. Once in power, the Secular Humanists are more difficult to remove than a cancer. Now, the Secularist Humanists (Atheists and Christians who follow Atheistic dogma and precepts) have devised an alliance of convenience with the Muslims to take even more power. Can the influence of those who are following Christ withstand the zeal of this alliance? Only God knows.. The systems of this world are groaning in travail. Jesus said that things will wax worse and worse, and then the end will come. There is no hope in the systems of this world, but we have our hope in the administration of God's Kingdom. In socialist countries or Islamic countries, Christians have little choice. In fact, it is difficult just staying alive in such countries--if you serve Jesus. If you have freedom to worship, thank God and pray that He preserve your freedom. We know that the systems of this world are dying systems that cannot be fixed, but we also know that we have a responsibility before God to do what He puts in our hand to do. The most important thing that the redeemed can do is to pray, to walk in the Spirit and be a witness, to speak the Truth in Love, and not to deny Christ in thought, word, or deed. To abdicate our responsibility is to sin. The solutions do not lie in human government, but human government will become a real force for evil if the redeemed do not take their place. The redeemed do not live to make money but rather work to make a living as part of their ministries and their orderly lives in God's purpose. In the same way, the redeemed do not live for politics, where such cults as liberalism and Islam do consider politics to be central. If the redeemed back out of the process completely, we open the door for the unregenerate to make all of our decisions for us. Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn't mean politics won't take an interest in you!
