Psalms Chapter 29

Study Notes

King James Version

Young's Literal Translation

A Psalm of David. 1 Give to THE EXISTENT ONE, Oh you mighty, give to THE EXISTENT ONE  glory and strength.
2 Give to THE EXISTENT ONE  the glory due to His name; worship THE EXISTENT ONE  in the beauty of holiness [set apartness].
3 The voice of THE EXISTENT ONE  is upon the waters: the God of glory thunders: THE EXISTENT ONE  is upon many waters.
4 The voice of THE EXISTENT ONE  is powerful; the voice of THE EXISTENT ONE  is full of majesty.
5 The voice of THE EXISTENT ONE  breaks the cedars; yes, THE EXISTENT ONE  breaks the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He makes them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young auroch [huge extinct species of cattle].
7 The voice of THE EXISTENT ONE  divides the flames of fire.
8 The voice of THE EXISTENT ONE  shakes the wilderness; THE EXISTENT ONE  shakes the wilderness of Kadesh [Kadish barnea, literally, holy].
9 The voice of THE EXISTENT ONE  makes the deer dance and discover the forests: and, in His temple, every one speaks of His glory.
10 THE EXISTENT ONE  sits upon the flood; yes, THE EXISTENT ONE  sits King to the eon.
11 THE EXISTENT ONE  will give strength to His people; THE EXISTENT ONE  will bless His people with completeness .
1 A Psalm of David. Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength.
2 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
3 The voice of the LORD [is] upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD [is] upon many waters.
4 The voice of the LORD [is] powerful; the voice of the LORD [is] full of majesty.
5 The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars; yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.
7 The voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire.
8 The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.
9 The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of [his] glory.
10 The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever.
11 The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.
1 A Psalm of David. Ascribe to Jehovah, ye sons of the mighty, Ascribe to Jehovah honour and strength.
2 Ascribe to Jehovah the honour of His name, Bow yourselves to Jehovah, In the beauty of holiness.
3 The voice of Jehovah [is] on the waters, The God of glory hath thundered, Jehovah [is] on many waters.
4 The voice of Jehovah [is] with power, The voice of Jehovah [is] with majesty,
5 The voice of Jehovah [is] shivering cedars, Yea, Jehovah shivers the cedars of Lebanon.
6 And He causeth them to skip as a calf, Lebanon and Sirion as a son of Reems,
7 The voice of Jehovah is hewing fiery flames,
8 The voice of Jehovah paineth a wilderness, Jehovah paineth the wilderness of Kadesh.
9 The voice of Jehovah paineth the oaks, And maketh bare the forests, And in His temple every one saith, 'Glory.'
10 Jehovah on the deluge hath sat, And Jehovah sitteth king -- to the age,
11 Jehovah strength to his people giveth, Jehovah blesseth His people with peace!

Psalms Chapter 29

Human theology and reasoning is not necessarily correct, but the Bible is without error. The Bible can only be understood by revelation, and revelation is given by the Spirit of God. God does reveal in His own way. But we only know in part. If we think we know any thing, we do not know it as we ought. We are instructed, by God, to keep seeking Him. The Holy Spirit will lead us into all truth. The truth sets us free. Lies bind us. Whoever seeks Jesus does find Him. Jesus is the truth.

God has established the pattern of Scripture, for life and for the Church.

We believe the Holy Scriptures teach:
  • The 5 apostolic ministries (Ephesians 4:11)
  • The nine gifts of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:8-10)
  • Local congregations overseen by elders and deacons (Titus 1:5)
  • Every member having and being a ministry in the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:11)
  • Being led by the Spirit of God (Romans 8:14)
  • The gathering together of the Body of Christ (Genesis 49:10, John 17:21)
