Consider The Most Important Commandment--which You Have Not Kept. |
Mark 12:29-31 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. To love God and make Him absolute Lord is to be without sin. This person, if there were such a person, would exalt God in everything he or she thought, said, or did. This person would be absolutely dependent on God in all things. God would be the strength of this person. This person would never call God a liar. A person who claims to be good enough to get to heaven and avoid hell without the atonement that God gave through Jesus Christ, is calling God a liar. A person who had completely taken self out of his or her life, would always obey every one of God's laws. This person would never think a thought that was not right. This person would never seek his or her own benefit. Nor would this person ever say an off-color word or a word that would offend. Not only that, but God's glory would flow continually through such a person as this--the fullness of God's glory. Were there such a person, that person would never fall short of the glory of God. It could be argued that someone somewhere may have fulfilled this verse. How could we know? The Bible says, "No." That is God's word, and God knows. I went to a certain web site of a mainline "Christian" denomination, and the site posed the question: "How can I get to heaven." The answer that they gave? "Do what Jesus does and you will go to heaven." That answer reveals an amazing level of ignorance of God and His ways. Let's see. Be God, humble yourself to become a human, live a perfect life without any sin, never speak a word from your own mind, always speak the words of the Heavenly Father, be in perfect communion with the Heavenly Father, never do anything that requires forgiveness, let the Father do every work through you, never try to do any work in your own strength, and the list could go on. Do you think a sane person would lay claim to having accomplished this?
