| Closed-Minded Intolerance |
|
Faith in Christ rejects arrogance, oppression, intolerance, self-righteousness, closed-mindedness, defensiveness, anger, malice, strife, and many other such things. In fact, these are all signs of an immature Christian. Relativism tends to be hypocritical. There is nothing built into relativism that keeps anyone from being arrogant, oppressive, intolerant, self-righteous, closed-minded, defensive, angry, malicious, mean, brutal, or destructive. In fact, relativism allows anything. There is no basis for doing right in relativism because relativism knows no right or wrong. Relativism is a very strange belief because, in itself, it is self-refuting. That is, it is an insane belief because it creates a rule that would make its own philosophy untrue, yet it usually takes the stand that its own philosophy is the only truth. This, of course, is insane. It claims not to be arrogant and accuses Christians of being arrogant when relativism is one of the most arrogant stands that could be taken. The person who claims to know that there are no absolutes is falsely claiming to know everything about everything because to claim an knowledge that there are no absolutes would require a knowledge of everything about everything. Relativism is a very arrogant position. Relativist can be oppressive. Many of them want to limit the ability of those who don't believe in relativism to express themselves. Relativists can tend to be intolerant of non-relativists. Relativists are often self-righteous. A bumper-sticker comes to mind that says, "Born OK the first time." Jesus warned against the same kind of self-righteousness of the religious leaders He talked to 2,000 years ago. Relativists are often closed-minded toward any ideas that are not relativistic. Many relativists are bigots against Christians. They won't listen to the good news about Jesus Christ. They are malicious toward Christians and the gospel. They have a confirmation bias toward any information, interpreting it in ways that would be negative toward the Bible, Christ, or those who have a personal experience with Christ.
How can we know anything about anything? That’s the real question |
