2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with unveiled (the veil is the flesh) faces, beholding the glory of the Lord as in a mirror (those who have been created in the image of God), are transfigured into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. Literal We know that the veil refers to the flesh from another Scripture, the only one that gives us a key to the type that is represented by the word, veil. The word, transfigured, is translated from the Greek word, metamorphoo, which is the word translated as transfigured when Jesus was transfigured. The mirror is referred to as a type three times in the new testament. In 1 Corinthians 13, it says that we now see as in a mirror but then face to face. James speaks of the perfect law of liberty that is like looking into a mirror. What do you see when you look into a mirror? You see yourself. But this mirror doesn't show your fleshly self. "Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh" 2 Cor. 5:16 It shows your ministry, which is Christ in you the hope of Glory, so you behold the glory of the Lord. Not only do you behold yourself, but you also see your surroundings in a mirror. In this case, you catch a glimpse of the Body of Christ and how you fit into it. This is a vision, a revelation from God. It happens when God speaks to you, guiding you and teaching you. Everyone who follows Christ is led by Christ. Jesus said, "My sheep hear My Voice." God speaks through Scripture, and God tells us, through Scripture, that He also speaks through His people, through a still small voice, through creation, through dreams, through visions, through prophecy, through a word of knowledge, through a word of wisdom, etc. So, we hear His Voice, and then faith comes with this vision of hope. "Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word (Greek: rhema, which is literally, utterance) of God." When you yield to the Spirit of God, faith comes. It is God's faith, a supernatural belief and trust in what God said. Scripture tells us that it is faith that gives us access to grace. In another place it says that we are saved by grace through faith, and that faith is not of ourselves lest anyone should boast. Other Scripture tells us that our own self-generated works are filthy rags, but God does His works through us by grace. This is how we are saved from sin. We are no longer slaves. In 1 Cor. 1:30, we are told that God has made Jesus Christ to be our wisdom. Then, God says that this wisdom is righteousness, holiness, and redemption. Righteousness is in the moment. God doing His works through you as you yield to His Spirit. However, you cannot yield to Spirit of God without having Him transfigure you. There are a couple verses that this transfiguration is related to seeing Him face to face. One of those Scriptures is 1 Cor. 3:10. When you are changed in your very nature to be more like Jesus, this is holiness. You are being changed into the same image from glory to glory. And you are being set free--which is what redemption means. You are being set free from your fleshly nature as you are crucified with Christ.
