Lies Hold Us Captive--Truth Sets Us Free |
Lies hold us captive. Truth sets us free. Many times the lies seem to serve our purposes, so we embrace them thinking that they will help us. From that time on, we carry these misconceptions with us, and they keep us from being truly successful. There are lies of which we are aware, and there are hidden faults. A rationalization is simply a lie couched in language that makes it seem as if it were sane. Every person develops a world view, a paradigm, a confirmation bias, that limits each person's vision. The good news is that we don't have to do this. The bad news is that this problem is universal. The human race is a fallen race. The human mind is very limited. Lies become filters that filter out the glory of God and hearing His voice. We labor under preconceived ideas about what success is and how to gain access to the wisdom and power to achieve success. We may have incorrect and subconscious presuppositions about what the basic values and precepts of life are all about, things like hope, joy, peace, love, fulfillment, knowledge, wisdom, truth, power, grace, faith, righteousness, holiness, and redemption. This article is about the truth and how the truth is vital to success. What is success all about? Possessions? Power? Pleasure? Prestige? NO. All these things fade. We need to know the truth about success and how to succeed in life. Is success about having a certain amount of money of possessions, having no stress or very limited stress, being able to control situations or other people, and such things. None of these things will satisfy. The Bibles says, "I will be satisfied when I awake with Thy (Jesus') likeness. Many theories, ideologies, and theologies work against the truth about success. Human minds are darkened so that we cannot see the light and only the Holy Spirit of God can enlighten our thinking. A darkened mind will resist the truth about success. Those who are spiritually blind are willingly blind and willfully ignorant and cannot see the basics of success. The basic principle of success is this: "Wisdom is the principle thing, therefore get wisdom." (Proverbs 4:7) Another way to say this is, "Yield yourself to God" (Romans 6:13). If we say that all things are possible by faith, we are actually saying the same thing. If we say that we can do all things through Christ who is our strength, we are again saying the same thing. Of course, we know that no one can come to God except through Jesus Christ, and no one can come to Jesus except the Father draws them. The Father draws us. If we seek God, we know that everyone who seeks God does find Him. God speaks, and so does the enemy of our souls. We choose to listen to God's voice, providing that we have ears to hear. Faith comes by hearing the word of God. Faith gives us access to God's grace, God's Holy Spirit. Jesus stands at the door and knocks, and we open the door to Him. Grace, the free gift of God, flows in with wisdom, righteousness, holiness, redemption, love, joy, peace, and all that is needed to succeed. We choose to yield our members to the grace of God rather than trying to do our own human works. God does His work through us. In this process, something of our carnal mind is transformed and cleansed. God is now doing a work from glory to glory of transfiguring us and creating a clean heart in us. We can't store up the Holy Spirit, but righteousness and holiness consist of a constant, perpetual flowing of the Anointing, the Holy Spirit, of God, which flows out of our innermost being as a fountain of living water. While we are faltering creatures, sometimes in the anointing and sometimes out of the anointing, God's will is that we always stay in the anointing and receive His blessing, whether at work, at play, in the home, in the church, or wherever we are. Since Jesus saved us, there is certainly no reason for us to waver and be double-minded in this way, but maturity brings stability. Ultimate maturity will bring ultimate stability, but ultimate maturity cannot be attained by independent effort but can only be brought about by interdependent unity in following God's leading and methods.
