Money -- Wise Sayings About Money

A fine is a tax for doing wrong.  A tax is a fine for doing well.

A mysterious envelope will be mailed to you with a little window in it.  Pay it.

A vacation is a trip that puts you in the pink and leaves you in the red.

Adult education often begins with a teenage marriage.

Alimony is sometimes known as bounty on the mutiny.

Alimony is the high cost of leaving.

At times a second-hand car makes you realize how hard it is to drive a bargain.

Better a little with honor than much with shame.

Chop your own wood and it will warm you twice.

Did you ever wonder if the original sponge cake was made from borrowed ingredients?

Do not squander time for that is the stuff life is made of.

Don't despair: there are plenty of things money won't buy.

Don't marry for money--you can borrow it more cheaply.

Drive defensively.  An accident that doesn't happen helps both you and the other driver.

Drive like a nut and you may soon get cracked.

Generosity given with strings attached is not really generosity.  It's a deal.

If the job doesn't mean more than the pay, it will never pay more.

If you want to improve your memory, loan money to others.

It is better to give rather than lend--the cost is about the same.

One way to keep your head above water is to avoid expensive dives.

People who have time to spend usually spend it with someone who hasn't.

Some people go into debt trying to keep up with people who are already there.

The best gifts are always tied with heartstrings.

The best things in life may be free, but things money can buy aren't bad either.

The best way to double your money is to fold it once and put it back in your pocket.

The constitution guarantees you the pursuit of happiness but doesn't guarantee to finance the chase.

Chuck Colson noted: "Our founding fathers understood the pursuit of happiness to mean the pursuit of a virtuous life." Virtue is goodness. Jesus said, "There is none good but God." Paul indicated that righteousness is a free gift from God and that it is grace that does good works through us, not we ourselves. He also says that it is faith that gives access to grace, and that faith comes by hearing the word (literally, utterance) of God. Jesus said, "My sheep hear My Voice."

The only trouble with a sure thing is the uncertainty.

The opportunity of a lifetime is seldom labeled so.

The secret of success is your head up, your overhead down.

The sneakiest two words in the English language are "plus tax."

Thrift is truly a virtue--especially in an ancestor.

We could save a lot if we could live as cheaply after payday as we did before.

You are going to take a long trip--they found out about the money.

You will always have plenty of money if you let the rest of the world go buy.
