Is Sickle-cell Anemia An Example Of Evolution In The Present Day?
NO!
Sickle-cell anemia is a defect that is passed from generation to generation. It is an example of natural selection, but natural selection is, in no way, evolution. Sickle-cell anemia is proof of the Second Law of Thermodynamics. It is a "downward" change, degradation. The fact that it provides some resistance to malaria does not make it an “upward” change. Information and organization has not been added, but, typical of the Second Law of Thermodynamics, information and organization have been lost. There has been no increase in complexity or improvement of function, but the opposite is, in fact, the case.
Sickle-cell anemia is an example of the religion of Evolutionism grasping at straws. It is an example of intelligent scientists who look at proof against Evolutionism, but all they can see is Evolutionism. It is an example of mental filters. Sickle-cell anemia displays the ability of presuppositions and mental paradigms to make intelligent people blind to the facts. It is a prime example of confirmation bias.
