How ideas are opposed in public forums
How the truth is opposed in every forum
- Ignore the viewpoint
- Examples:
- Ignoring early Christian history and Church order, government, power, etc. as recorded in the Bible.
- Your viewpoint may be deliberately ignored by someone.
- Failure to report (in the media) anything positive from Christians (except liberal "christians")
- Reporting only errors made by Christians.
- Heavily reporting viewpoints of pseudo-Christians, while failing to report on any Biblical Christians.
- Marginalization
- Label as out of the mainstream
- State that only those on the fringes hold this position
- Label as extreme
- Examples:
- Attacks against the Gospel through the centuries
- Attacks by evolutionists against those who don't believe them
- Attacks by global warming advocates
- Attacks by liberal denominations, and the fact that they call themselves, "mainline."
- Contention with the foundational premise
- Trying to find something wrong with the premise
- Often, this consists of misrepresentations of the premise
- Examples:
- Attacks against the Gospel through the centuries
- Claims that Christ didn't rise
- Claims against the Bible
- Claims of errors
- Claims of many translations
- Claims contesting authorship
- Da Vinci Code and other fiction
- Unrealistic and silly claims for the scientific method
- Post Modernism: claiming that there is no such thing as truth
- Summary Dismissal
- Statements to say that the debate is over
- History has shown us...
- It is now beyond dispute...
- It has long been settled...
- Examples: evolution, global warming
- Attacks against the Gospel through the centuries
- Ad Hominem Attacks
- Attacks against the person
- All reasonable people disagree with you
- Any reputable scholar won't accept this
- Name-calling
- Epithets
- Mean-spirited personal attacks
- Anything to divert attention away from the viewpoint
- Ad Hominem attacks are a sign of desperation.
- Examples:
- The Clinton attack machine against Paula White
- Attacks by evolutionists or global warming backers
- Attacks against those who spread Gospel through the centuries
- Obstructions to stating opposing opinions
- Constrain you in any way possible
- Trying to restrict the ability to convey the idea
- Examples
- Shouting and chanting to drown out any voice of dissent
- Physical threats against those holding a Christian viewpoint
- Fairness Doctrine
- Federal Funding of the protected argument: global warming, evolution, etc.
- Federal restrictions on Churches regarding taking a stand for a Christian candidate over a secularist candidate
- Job discrimination against Christians
- Workplace shunning of Christians
- Prohibitions to stating opposing opinions
- Make it illegal to state any opposing opinions
- Examples
- Federal Hate Crime
- China
- killed for spreading the Gospel
- jailed for worshiping Jesus
- Hiedi Cullen said that meteorologists who don'tback global warming should have their credentials pulled.
- Socialists/Atheists killing Christians
- Muslims killing Christians
- Hindus killing Christians
- Making it illegal to teach creation science in schools.
- Pulling funding or firing scientists who find evidence that supports creation, that refutes evolutionism, or that refutes human-generated global warming theories.
