How have the Secular Humanists distorted the history of the Crusades?

Obey your flesh and descend into darkness

How can we know anything about anything

To try to explain truth to him who loves it not is but to give him more plentiful material for misinterpretation. George Macdonald

Do we have to make a choice between science and the Bible?

NO!

That is NOT where the problem is, but that is what everyone seems to want to talk about.

Take science as an example. How can we know anything about the created material world around us?

How can we know anything from what we can see using natural sciences?

We all see the same things in the material world, but we don't come to the same answers.

Why is that?

How can we know anything about the Bible and what it teaches? Every person believes different things about the Bible and how it should be read.

Why is that?

Same scientific facts. Different answers.

Same Bible. Different answers.

Why is that?

The true question is this: How do we come to our answers that we get from what we can see through science or what we can read in the Bible?

How do we think about what we see using science or what we read in the Bible?

How do we analyze what we have seen and read?

How do we interpret what we have seen and read?

We use logic, but logic always has a foundation. Jesus talked about building on the Rock. That Rock is Jesus Christ. He is the true foundation. There are also the false foundations of the ungodly.

An example might help.

Question: Why do you believe in evolution?

Answer: Because my science teacher told me that evolution is scientific fact.

Question: Why do you believe your science teacher?

Answer: because he agrees with the textbook he assigned us to read.

Now, we have asked, "Why?" twice.

If we continued to ask, "Why?" we would come down to the foundation of this person's thoughts.

When we get down to the foundations, there are no more questions that can be answered. So where to the foundations come from?

There are three possibilities.

  1. things that we make up, pulled from the air
  2. demonic lies
  3. divine revelation

Question: Why do you believe in creation?

Answer: Because God revealed this to me. He spoke to me through the Bible and gave me His faith so that I could believe Him.

See how quickly we got to the foundation. This is a belief that has a foundation that is solid and that cannot be moved.

In reality, the things that we make up, that are pulled from the air, are actually from demons and all the lies of demons spring from the prince of demons, Satan. So these are one and the same.

Divine revelation comes from the Almighty, Creator, God, Jesus Christ. So there are only two choices, but how do we know there are only two choices? Because God has revealed this truth to us.

The question then is how do we tell the difference between the revelation that comes from God and the lies of Satan?

The answer is that everyone who sincerely wants to do the will of God will know.

Jesus said, "If you really want to obey God, you will know if what I teach comes from God or from me"

The rejection of the revelation that comes from God is not an intellectual problem. It is a moral problem.

Jesus said, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you: For everyone who asks receives; and he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks it shall be opened." *

Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to those who ask him? Matthew 7:7-11 *

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. You can set the truth before someone, but you can't make anyone believe those things that they don't want to submit to. They have to want to obey God.

How frequently it is brought to our attention that nothing good can be done if the will is wrong! Reason alone fails to justify itself. Richard M. Weaver

Jesus said, "You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (John 8:32)

"If we are not prepared to buy the truth at the cost of our own humbling we shall not receive it"

Lies appear to have no price upon them. They seem cheap and they abound everywhere. But for the truth there is always an obvious price to pay.

"[God] has set a day when He will judge all the world's people with fairness. And He has chosen the man Jesus to do the judging for Him. God has given proof of this to all of us by raising Jesus from death" (Acts 17:31).

"There is a judge for the one who rejects Me [Jesus] and does not accept My words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day" (John 12:48)

That also stands for every person who speaks the utterances of Jesus. When we hear them, we hear Jesus Christ, and we either accept or reject. Every person who follows Jesus Christ is commanded to only speak His utterances and not their own.

"When we love others, we know that we belong to the truth, and we feel at ease in the presence of God" (1 John 3:19)

Ravi Zacharias did two open forums in a university. On the second night, one man told him that he had brought two Atheists in the night before who said that the arguments presented were so strong that they could not contend with them, but they were going to remain Atheists because that is what they prefer to be true.

In another case of just listening to an unbeliever and drawing out his reasoning, the unbeliever finally came to his foundations.

They turned out to be assumptions that were pulled from the air. When asked why he believed his basic assumption, the unbeliever looked startled and blurted out, "I guess I'm making the whole thing up." It was quite a revelation to him since he hadn't even known that he had any assumptions. However, he decided to remain an Atheist because he didn't want God to rule over him.

SECULAR RELIGIONISTS ENCOURAGE MANY MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT THE CRUSADES AS A FORM OF RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION AGAINST CHRISTIANS

"I am convinced that the battle for humankind's future must be waged and won in the public school classroom by teachers who correctly perceive their role as the proselytizers of a new faith: a religion of humanity that recognizes and respects the spark of what theologians call divinity in every human being. These teachers must embody the same selfless dedication as the most rabid fundamentalist preachers, for they will be ministers of another sort, utilizing a classroom instead of a pulpit to convey humanist values in whatever subject they teach, regardless of the educational level preschool day care or large state university."
The Humanist, January/February 1983, "A Religion for a New Age."

Secular Humanist religionists have held almost complete control of the history that has been taught in our schools. When one religion teaches about another religion, we can expect a slanted viewpoint. When one of the religions is based on Secularism's rational-lie-zed speculation, we can expect mean bigotry. Religion based on intellectual rational-lie-zed speculation is dangerous.

Former president Bill Clinton claimed that the actions of the Muslims could be blamed on the Crusades, claiming unprovoked aggression and colonialism. That, is as far from the truth as most of the other things that this famous Liberal tells us. The truth is that the Crusades had nothing to do with colonialism or unprovoked aggression.

You can get the entire history in a book, A Concise History of the Crusades, written by historian Thomas F. Madden. This is a book that many rejoiced to see because it sets the record straight.

SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT

Pseudo-history presents the Crusades as being cooked up by a wicked pope or by evil knights. It was not. After more than 400 years of Muslim attacks on Christians, the crusades were acts of self-defense. Much like the lack of reaction from the United States to the attacks preceding 911, the Church ignored the great Muslim Jihad until it had taken over two-thirds of the world. We thought that America was crazy to wait for decades while the Muslims repeatedly attacked. The Christians of the Crusades waited for centuries.

The Crusades were a defense, an ongoing reaction to Muslim attacks. They were defensive, not offensive as the New Agers and Secular Humanistic religionists would have us believe.

It may not be totally accurate to say that the means of Muslim conversion has always been by the sword, that you join the Muslims or die.  In practice, though, this has largely been the case.  This goes back to Mohammed. Note: all Muslims don't follow this teaching, but many do. For the terrorists, this is their mission, and they will not be held back from it.

The actual teaching of the Koran is that Muslims are to rule the world.  This world-wide domination is to be executed by force.  Those who resist are to be killed.  Non-Muslims, under Muslim rule, are second-class citizens and subject to restrictions and special taxes.  Of course, many would convert to avoid the oppression.

By the 8th century,
Muslims had taken North Africa, which, prior to that time, had been Christian.

Muslims had defeated Spain, which had previously been Christian.

By the 11th century,
Muslims had conquered Turkey, which had been Christian prior to the killing.

The Emperor asked Western Christians to help the Eastern Christians to defend themselves against the Muslims, and that was the beginning of the Crusades.

By the 15th century,
The Muslims were taking over Western Europe, and Europeans were fighting for their very existence. The later Crusades were not helping Eastern Christians to defend themselves. These Crusades were self-defense, the defense of Western Europe against a brutal enemy that was driven by a religion without Jesus Christ and without mercy.

The stories about the Crusaders being evil people who went out to steal in a distant country are just not true. Modern scholarship shows that the there was little plunder to get in the Crusades with very few exceptions. The Crusades were wars of self-defense. They were not waged as wars for plunder as the New Agers and Secular Humanist religionists accuse.

At a certain point, the aggressive Muslims captured Constantinople and much of Europe. The goal of Islam was to conquer the entire world, just as this is the goal of the present Jihad.

Had God not intervened with a run of freak rainstorms, Suleiman and the Muslims would indeed have wiped out Christianity, but God has always kept a remnant.

Religion that is based on intellectual rational-lie-zed speculation is dangerous, regardless of whether that religion is New Age Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, or Secularist. Christianity without Jesus Christ is a terrible thing as can be seen in the New Age religions. There were New Age religions before the term, New Age, came into use. There is nothing new about New Age. Religion without Jesus is not a good thing. Jesus never leads anyone to try to force anyone else to have the same faith, but Jesus often leads His followers to testify of their faith and to tell others the good news that they can be saved. There would be no point to coercion. God is looking only for those who will freely come to Him.

It may be true that there were abuses by Christians in the crusades. There are always abuses by human beings simply because they are human beings, so we can be certain that this period of history had its abuses. Abuses can always be traced to intellectual rational-lie-zed speculation, and intellectual rational-lie-zed speculation is often religious. Out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries and every foul thing.

It is true that the Church had left the revelation that came through Christ. And the Catholic Church had even lost the knowledge of salvation by grace and through the faith of Jesus Christ for all but a few faithful (God always has had a people who follow His Light). Political power had become important and what started as a God-ordered and Spiritual Body of Christ had degenerated into a worldly system. Not surprisingly, this worldly system was bound up by many forms and rituals that were meaningless to God. The Church of that day had largely changed its structure to a man-made government. The gifts of the Spirit were no longer active, and the Church was operating largely on the level of intellectual rational-lie-zed speculation.

Even in the light of this back-sliding, it must be noted that the historians have distorted their representations of the Crusades and of the Catholic Church.

The New Agers and Secularist religionists have done much work to adapt the history of the Crusades to support their purposes. Big Brother in the book, 1984, knew that whoever controlled history could control the future, so he had people busily changing history. This same process of re-writing history has been carried on by the New Agers and the Secularist religion for many decades.

The New Agers and Secular Humanists have almost always portrayed the Crusades as unprovoked holy wars against Islam. That is NOT true. For anyone who takes time to actually study source documents of history, they will find that this is not the case at all.

The members of the New Age and the Secularists use the crusades as an opportunity to accuse the followers of Christ of being self-righteous and intolerant. This is an improper use of the schools and the educational process to create a false impression.

The members of the New Age and the Secular Humanist Religion both use the pseudo-history related to the Crusades to try to say that Western civilization is flawed because it is based in Christianity. Their purpose is to promote their religion, New Age and Secular Humanism. Tax dollars should not be used for promotion of the hateful religion of New Age/Secular Humanism.

God has established the pattern of Scripture, for life and for the Church.

You can feel free to use the Contact Form further down on this page to ask any question regarding this pattern of Scripture. The Church, the Body of Christ, and discernment of this Body, is the method that God is using to finish the work in His Body. The Body of Christ, God's Temple, is built up by that which every joint supplies, building each other up in love, and the Temple must be built according to the pattern of Scripture.

Prayer, Bible, Unity

We believe the Holy Scriptures teach:
  • The 5 apostolic ministries (Ephesians 4:11)
  • The nine gifts of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:8-10)
  • Local congregations overseen by elders and deacons (Titus 1:5)
  • Every member having and being a ministry in the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:11)
  • Being led by the Spirit of God (Romans 8:14)
  • The gathering together of the Body of Christ (Genesis 49:10, John 17:21)
End

If you seek God, you will find Him through His Son, Jesus.

How have the Secular Humanists distorted the history of the Crusades?

Human theology and reasoning is not necessarily correct, but the Bible is without error. The Bible can only be understood by revelation, and revelation is given by the Spirit of God. God does reveal in His own way. But we only know in part. If we think we know any thing, we do not know it as we ought. We are instructed, by God, to keep seeking Him. The Holy Spirit will lead us into all truth. The truth sets us free. Lies bind us. Whoever seeks Jesus does find Him. Jesus is the truth.
