One of the many myths that an evolutionist will try to sell is this: an evolutionist will try to convince people that defense lawyer Clarence Darrow, the evolutionist, made the fundamentalist prosecutor William Jennings Bryan look like a fool over the Bible. William Jennings Bryan did, at times, look like a fool in the trial--but it was because he did NOT believe the Bible. It is true that Bryan didn't have a real understanding of some aspects of the Bible. Where he stuck to the Bible or even knew what the Bible said, he was brilliant. Bryan believed in the day-age theory, which made him look like an idiot. http://creationrevolution.com/2011/02/global-flood-global-impact-the-legacy-of-the-genesis-flood/
Secularistic Hollywood has helped their religion by putting out a misleading and deceptive movie to tell their distortion of this bit of history. Of course, the media is misleading and deceptive in most of what they do. The wealthy New Agers and Secular Humanists have taken control of everything from film to news. They have the majority of the magazines and the newspapers. They control most of public education. And they used a film to distort the history of the Scopes trial.
For any who actually believe that public education is not corrupted, here's an interesting quote.
"I am convinced that the battle for humankind's future must be waged and won in the public school classroom by teachers who correctly perceive their role as the proselytizers of a new faith: [SIC] a religion of humanity that recognizes and respects the spark of what theologians call divinity in every human being. [SIC] These teachers must embody the same selfless dedication as the most rabid fundamentalist preachers, for they will be ministers of another sort, utilizing a classroom instead of a pulpit to convey humanist values in whatever subject they teach, regardless of the educational level preschool day care or large state university."
The Humanist, January/February 1983, "A Religion for a New Age."
Some people believe the Hollywood version already. All an evolutionist needs to do is to reinforce that. Fortunately for evolutionists, most people have been dumbed down and educated into ignorance by a corrupted public school system. Evolution is Just Story Telling. When people have a real knowledge of the facts and ability to think, the selling of the evolutionary story is much harder.
Here is the way this has been handled in the past. The evolutionists just present false facts. In other words, they just lie. They instill an admiration for the cool, rational Darrow. They point out, although falsely, that he had reason on his side. They make believe that Scopes was teaching the truth in the classroom. They work very hard at trying to convince folks that this trial made Christians look stupid. They try not to reveal the fact that it was simply the lies that were presented in a Broadway play and a Hollywood movie that tried to make Christians appear to be stupid. If evolutionists feel uncomfortable lying, they can just use the standard text books to do their lying for them.
An evolutionist will say that this trial showed that, in the light of science, biblical belief is just plain stupid. Even though that is a lie, that is what they say. "As we look back, we see that each one of the arguments for evolution are now known to be wrong. Featured prominently were supposed vestigial organs, like the appendix or tonsils, once touted as leftovers from an evolutionary past, but now recognized as functioning. Embryonic recapitulation, the idea that the human fetus goes through various evolutionary stages in the mother's womb, surfaced, but this whole idea was disproved decades ago." http://www.icr.org/article/did-evolutionists-present-good-case-at-scopes-tria/
The reality is that William Jennings Bryan won the case, and Evolution versus Creation was not the issue. "In the end, after several twists, turns, and dirty tricks, John Scopes was convicted -- a ruling later overturned on a technicality" http://www.icr.org/article/look-back-at-scopes-trial/
Evolution isn't science. Only a fool or an ignorant person would believe evolution to be science.
The mis-reporting of the Scopes trial continues to be one of evolution's major triumphs. It continues to be one of evolution's most successful lies, and that's saying a lot, since evolution has had many very successful lies. An evolutionist will try to make it seem as if evolution is somehow the truth of science and Christians tried to stop truth and progress. For an evolutionist, it is critical to make people believe that evolution is some form of science, though you know, in your heart, that it is not.
One thing an evolutionist will want to do is to keep creation from being taught in the schools. An evolutionist can falsely claim that creation is unscientific, although creation fits the observations of science where evolution does not. Yet, with true dogmatic ignorance and headstrong resolve, an evolutionist can still make this case, erroneous though it is.
You may be interested, since the popular understanding of the Scopes trial is an illusion, what the reality is?
WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED?
1. William Jennings Bryan was opposed to evolutionism for several reasons. He saw democracy as a workable form of government under a Christian belief system, but saw the teaching of evolution as a method of indoctrination into the doctrine of materialism, which is anti-Christian. He foresaw the abuses that such doctrines could be used to rationalize. He wanted to stop evolution, an unproved hypothesis, from being taught as true.
2. The ACLU saw a chance for a legal victory for freedom of speech as they had defined it. Recent ACLU stands have shown them to be dead set against Christian free speech; however, this anti-Christian attitude had probably not permeated the ACLU at the time the Scopes trial took place.
3. The small town was looking for publicity and took out an ad looking for a teacher who would volunteer for it.
4. The court battle wasn't to be over religion. It was a battle over different concepts of democracy. Only Darrow wanted to throw some mud at Christianity.
5. Scopes was not a biology teacher, but did fill in for the regular biology teacher during an illness. It was enough for the defense to initiate the trial.
6. Clarence Darrow was probably the most famous trial lawyer in America at this time. He was openly opposed to Christianity, working against Christians through debates, lectures, and dozens of popular books and articles. Clarence Darrow thought that the Christian doctrine of salvation was dangerous. He was not in any way a scientist, but used science to win cases, and rejected science to win cases. Darrow volunteered his service for free as an opportunity to ridicule Christianity.
7. The judge kept the trial focused on the clash between two models of democracy, and Darrow almost missed his fun. On the third and last day of the trial, however, Darrow was able to call Bryan as an expert on the Bible. Darrow asked Bryan a number of questions about details of the Bible, which Bryan, not being an expert on the Bible, could not answer. Darrow was able to embarrass Bryan in this way and have his fun. The trial became a shouting match. Darrow proved that Bryan didn't know his Bible. That's all he proved.
8. Scopes was found guilty after a few minutes deliberation by the jury.
9. Bryan, the prosecutor, felt that Scopes should not have to pay the fine and offered to pay it himself.
I suppose you are asking yourself, "How have people come to believe that the Scopes trial was between evolution and religion, with evolution winning?"
HOW THE STORY GOT SO TWISTED
1. In 1931, Frederick Lewis Allen published his best-seller, Only Yesterday: An Informal History of the Nineteen-Twenties. In the book was a farce on the Scopes trial. It was meant to be humor, full of factual errors, and claiming, in jest, the victory of reason over revelation. This was the start of widespread misunderstanding of what had taken place.
2. In 1955, Jerome Lawrence and Robert E.Lee released a play, Inherit the Wind, on Broadway. Later, a movie was made along the same lines as the play. The two authors wanted to make a statement saying that McCarthyism is dangerous. To make their point, they portrayed Christianity as mindless, irrational oppression of individuals. They portrayed the Scopes trial in a non-factual way in order to make its point. In plays this is called poetic license. For the rest of us, they call it lying.
All the actual reasoning behind the trial was replaced with reasoning convenient to prove the point of the authors. New "facts" were created. For instance, some romance between a fictitious daughter of a fictitious local pastor was introduced. The fabricated pastor was portrayed very negatively.
In real life, this trial was contrived and instigated by the defense, but in the movie, Scopes was a victim.
In the movie, Bryan attacked evolution based on the Bible. This was a lie, of course, but it worked for the authors who were looking to promote their point and had no tolerance for facts.
The movie and the play didn't mention Bryan's social concerns. Another example of an untruth told in the play was the portraying of a Bryan who had quite a detailed theology about the exact date and time of the creation. They also tried to show him to be emotionally weak.
On the other hand, Darrow was misrepresented as open-minded, agnostic, kind, having a good character. They didn't come close to the real Darrow. For example, in the play, a colleague makes a wise crack about Bryan after Bryan's death and Darrow sharply rebukes his colleague for such a remark. In reality, it was Darrow who made the remark. The authors used it to portray a Darrow who was re-engineered as they wanted him to be in order to make their point.
The entire account was inaccurate and fooled many people. Critics brought out these facts in their reviews, but the play and the movie were popular.
3. In 1965, the Supreme Court overturned the Tennessee law upon which the Scopes trial was based. At that time, creationists began to quote the Darrow of the movie, saying, 'It is bigotry for public schools to teach only one theory of origins.' It's interesting to note that this is not a real Darrow quote. Darrow never said this. It was only the fictitious Darrow who said it. Darrow never said it because creationism was never taught in the schools. During the real trial, Bryan did say that if Creation cannot be taught in the schools, neither should evolution.
4. In 1994, the National Center for History in Schools recommended Inherit the Wind as material to teach students.
5. People were educated into ignorance.
6. In 1996, when the play was again staged on Broadway, no one mentioned that it was a ridiculous lie. The lie had triumphed.
But anyone who truly wants to be an evolutionist cannot be burdened with fact. Any evolutionist must swallow a good deal of falsehood and nonsense, or they will never make the grade. So an evolutionist will either need to ignore these facts, or else their dream of being a great evolutionist will be broken up on the rocks of reality.
If a you are not dogmatic about evolution, then you might try reading Summer for the Gods, Edward J. Larson’s 1998 Pulitzer Prize-winning book about the Scopes trial.
It's an eye-opener.
One interesting twist in the Scopes trial was that Darrow, the attorney who was defending the teaching of Evolutionistic dogma to children, had also defended Loeb and Leopold in 1923. Loeb and Leopold had murdered two young men for no apparent reason. Darrow defended Loeb and Leopold based on the influence of Nietzsche who had derived his theories from Darwinian principles. Virtues that American society has taken for granted are actually bad under Darwin’s survival of the fittest.
Like the many mass killings that we are currently experiencing in our schools, Loeb and Leopold were exercising the survival of the fittest ala Darwin. As Hitler sought to further the propagation of the super race, using Darwin’s work as his basis, so these killers were simply doing the same. They thought they were fixing things and advancing society.
Read http://creationontheweb.com/content/view/5625/ for more detail on this matter.
Bryan said that the teaching of evolution would result in what we are now seeing in our society. Darrow claimed it would never happen. Bryan claimed that the teaching of Evolution would result in increases in violence, drug use, and sexual immorality. That is exactly what we are seeing. The Darwinists who killed 12 and wounded 23 at Columbine in 1998, meant to kill hundreds, but their bomb failed to go off. The mainstream media failed to report the well-documented fact that Evolution was at the root of the thinking of these killers.
We now are trying to replace the teaching of creation and morality with security systems, expensive surveillance systems, armed guards, and coercion. However, our children are still dying in one catastrophe after another. All of this has its roots in Darwin.
The funny thing is that Scopes lost the case. He received the maximum fine, which was not that much. But the mainstream media pushed the Evolutionistic religion, using a distorted representation of the Scopes trial to do so. Immoral Hollywood jumped in with a movie that further distorted the trial to a point beyond recognition. And weak-kneed law-makers fell in line to allow the teaching of the deadly doctrine, even erroneously calling it "science." As a result, we have created a dangerous situation. We have poisoned the youth by teaching them a lie.
History now shows the damage that has been wrought by the Evolutionists. Satan is clever and evil. They have filled society with violence and immorality. He who troubles his own house truly does inherit the wind. Proverbs 11:29
As much as Bryant failed to predict the outcome of teaching Darwinism, the scientists using Darwinism as a presupposition have found that Darwinism is a poor predictor in biology. The Darwinistic presumption of upward random change is nowhere to be found. Nowhere can we find information being added by random chance. Darwinistic scientists spend millions of dollars, tax dollars, telling stories that have no basis in reality. Their stories hold science back. They are mere fabrications, figments of the imagination of creative story-tellers.
The bottom line is that everyone suffers as a result of Evolutionism.
Evolution isn't science.
