v 3:18 Apocalypse

2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with unveiled (the veil is the flesh) faces, beholding the glory of the Lord as in a mirror (those who have been created in the image of God), are transfigured into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. Literal

God has this for you. Can you receive it? Can you understand it? Do you know what it means to be transfigured? This step-by-step transfiguration takes place in the mind of the believer. It is a free Gift that the Holy Spirit does within you. Righteousness exercises our heavenly vision and improves it. Righteousness always starts with God--we can't initiate it. God speaks His heavenly vision in many ways, especially through the members of Christ the Body, through ministries. (1 Cor. 12:3) Here is the process: 1. Faith comes by hearing the word (literally, utterance) of God. (Ro. 10:17) 2. Hearing requires humility and reverence, which is the beginning of wisdom. (Pr. 9:10) 3. Faith gives access to God's grace (Ro. 5:2) including the free gift of righteousness. (Ro. 5:17, Ro. 10:3, Isa. 45:8, Heb. 12:28) 4. Grace does the work of God in us. (1 Cor. 15:10)

(some caveats about hearing God's Voice)

These four steps take only a moment and continue moment by moment perpetually. This is God's process for righteousness in thought, word, and deed, bringing us from glory to glory. Of course, we can slow, stop, or reverse our progress by ignoring, adding to, or taking from God's leading or by trying to self-generate works. Anything that is not of faith is sin. (Ro. 14:23) Righteousness is love. (Ro. 5:5, Ro. 13:8-10, Gal. 5:13-14, James 2:8) Righteousness always leads toward the establishment of God's pattern. When God does His work in and through us, whether it be a work of thought, word, or deed, you reap what you sow. When we hear His voice, we look into the perfect law of liberty as if we are looking into a mirror. We see ourselves, the ministry, Christ in us, as opposed to the fleshly man of sin, and we see ourselves in the context of Christ the Body, every order, ministry, and office. When we respond to the leading of God by allowing Him to do His work through us, we respond to the perfect law of liberty. (James 1:22-25)

2 Corinthians 3:18 And all of us, with unveiled faces, reflecting like bright mirrors the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same likeness, from one degree of radiant holiness to another, even as derived from the Lord the Spirit. Weymouth New Testament
2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. King James Version
2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with unveiled faces, seeing, as in a mirror, the glory of the Lord, are transfigured into the same image from glory into glory just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

The word, "open," is "anakalupto." Anakalupto is related to the word, apocalypse, and it means a taking away of a veil.

When this verse speaks of being changed, the word in Greek is "metamorphoo" Metamorphoo is the word from which we get metamorphisis.

Metamorphoo is only used in a few verses in the Bible.

2 Corinthians 4:1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;

Matthew 17:1-5 and Mark 9:2 both refer to the transfiguration of Jesus. So, we "are transfigured into the same image from glory to glory"

Romans 12:2 is the other verse where metamorphoo is used.

Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed [METAMORPHOO = Transfigured] by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Note that this transfiguration, in both cases where it is applied to us, is something that happens to us. It is not something we can do. It is in the passive voice in both cases.

What a glory! God has this for you if you can believe it.

It appears to be something that occurs suddenly but that we walk into progressively.  It is receiving what Jesus already paid for.  For those who are faithful, it will be a day of light, and it will be just one more step.  It will not come as a thief in the night.  For the unfaithful, it will come suddenly as a thief in the night.  It will be a day...

Great Babylon of the Apocalypse is the confusion of voices. It is the divided church, squabbling, making merchandise of the saints and of religion. It is the divisional denominational system that has the unbelievers so mixed up that they wonder who they should believe. Babylon has come into existence from man-made forms, rituals, and governments--church orders that in no way reflect the orders that are established in Scripture. How many 1...
