Each of us lives in our own little world, which is similar to reality but not exactly the same as reality. That is to say that there are things that each of us misunderstands, know only in part, and address with imperfect wisdom.

When two people communicate, they have a tendency to step on each other's little worlds. Some have termed this as: "Each person has his or her own reality." It does appear that each person has his or her own reality; that's true. Each person has his or her own perception of reality; that's also true. These perceptions are very limiting. They are much of the problem that is faced by the human race.

There are many terms that are used to put a label on these many and varied perceptions of reality:

• Your paradigm
  
• The world in your heart
• The world
• Your filters
• Your worldview
• Your presuppositions
• Your axioms

There is reality. When reality clashes with my perception of reality, I may suffer frustration, confusion, or shattered dreams. When someone else steps on my perception of reality, there is likely to be conflict.
