2006 Study released showing that women who have had abortions have elevated rates of mental health problems.
"From Christchurch, New Zealand, we now have a new study of the lingering effects of abortion on young women. Published in The Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry--a peer-reviewed scientific journal--this study gives reason for concern about the impact of abortion on the mental health of abortion patients. It is a longitudinal study, which means the women are studied over time. Researchers David M. Fergusson, L. John Horwood, and Elizabeth M. Ridder found that young women who had abortions had 'elevated rates of mental health problems'" FRC.org
Note, that studies had been done previously in the United States, but those studies were not publicized by former U.S. Surgeon General C. Everett Koop.
