The Church In The Refugee Camp (testimony)

Sat, 18 Mar 2006

There is a refugee camp under United Nations oversight near Burundi
Africa, that provides a meager place of shelter and food for those that
have fled the inhumane atrocities of "The Congo"..

These refugee camps provide a measure of security, and housing for the
displaced masses of these war torn countries, but are constant companions
with disease, hunger, thirst, and despair.

But in this camp, and in neighboring Burundi ( which has its own horrific
tales with its war with Rwanda)  there are churches with ministering
elders, presenting the Hope that comes from our unchanging God.

"The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light, those who
dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them the light has
shined". Is 9:2.

These words still ring true today, as the lost and hungry souls in the
refugee camp, are introduced through the church, to the message of hope,
and salvation.

Today, we met with the men that God seems to be placing as shepherds in
this camp, in Burundi, and in places near the refugee camps. The elders
shared their stories of the state and condition of the people in their
congregations. The most requested items for assistance were: Bibles,
food, and clothing.

Life has been harsh for many of these souls. But the church is growing.

Pray for the church among the refugees, which is in its infancy.  Pray
for the traveling Brethren here in Tanzania who are looking to the Lord
on how to answer the many calls for ministry, from Tanzania, from
Burundi, from even the Congo. These places are difficult.

God is moving, and calling out a people for Himself. Among the masses of
the world, and among the church that meets in the refugee camp.

Pray for Africa, every day of March please.

For the Brethren,
from Tanzania Africa,

Andy Snoke
