The Cult, Modernism

What is a cult?
The only sure way to avoid being deceived.

Modernism Basics:

Modernism is a dangerous cult.

Given the presupposition of Rationalism, the modernists made three more assumptions: Materialism, Naturalism, and Uniformitarianism.  Materialism assumes that there was no God.  Naturalism assumes that God does nothing.  Uniformitarianism assumes no Creation or Flood.  All of these suppositions are part of cultic modernism.

One of several related cults that work in concert: Agnosticism,   Atheism,   Evolutionism,   Humanism,   Intellectualism,   Liberalism,   Materialism,   Modernism,   Naturalism,   Post Modernism,   Rationalism,   Relativism,  Secularism,   and Socialism/Communism

Dear Lord, we pray that you deliver those who have been deceived into believing the false assumptions of materialism, naturalism, or uniformitarianism.  We pray that our hearts be right, that we love the Moderists—even those who hate us.  Anoint us as we pray for them who despitefully use us.  We pray that Your Holy Spirit minister to Modernists who become violent.  Cause them to turn from anger, Lord, and toward You.  Let them come to You that they may be washed totally clean from all their sins.  We pray that You minister to the hearts of all Modernists.  Teach them of Your grace and mercy.  Open their closed minds to the fact that You created them and all that is around us.  Teach them of the reality of Biblical truth.  Let them be humble enough to accept the fact that they have no righteousness in themselves and they must depend on You.  Make real to them that You have paid the price and that they are able to receive You and be at peace with Your Father.  Reveal to them the fact that there is no other way of salvation other than through Your holy blood, dear Jesus.  Give them a soft heart and don't let them be so arrogant as to reject Your free gift of salvation.

What is a cult?

You should also know that cults do not want to be identified as cults, and Modernism is no exception.

Modernism had its beginnings around 1890. Under the original rules that the modernists set up, they started with the assumption of rationalism.  Rationalism is the assumption that assumptions are valid thoughts.  In fact, under Rationalism, assumptions are more valid than observation.

Given the assumption of Rationalism, the modernists made three more assumptions: Materialism, Naturalism, and Uniformitarianism.

Materialism assumes that there was no God.

Naturalism assumes that God does nothing.

Uniformitarianism assumes no Creation or Flood.

Modernism, given these three assumptions, set out to prove that there was no God, God did nothing, and no Creation or Flood. That seems like cheating, and it is insanity, but otherwise intelligent people went along with this.  Of course, modernism leaves either humanity or nature ... or both as god and ruler of the universe.

By the 1970s, they had done enough experimentation to show that these rules, which they had termed “The Axioms of Science,” were absolutely false.  Even stacking the deck in the way they had, the obvious Creator was impossible to deny.  That’s why they needed Post-Modernism and Chaos Theory so they could live in a make-believe world where there would be no absolutes, at least in their reprobate minds.

If you seek God, you will find Him through His Son, Jesus.

Revelations 22:19 And if anyone takes away from the Words of the Book of this prophecy, God will take away his part out of the Book of Life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which have been written in this Book.

John 10:35b the Scripture cannot be broken,

Human theology and reasoning is not necessarily correct, but the Bible is. The Bible can only be understood by revelation, and revelation is given by the Spirit of God. God does reveal in His own way. But we only know in part. If we think we know any thing, we do not know it as we ought. We are instructed, by God, to keep seeking Him. The Holy Spirit will lead us into all truth. The truth sets us free. Lies bind us. Whoever seeks Jesus does find Him. Jesus is the truth.

We believe the Holy Scriptures teach:
  • The 5 apostolic ministries (Ephesians 4:11)
  • The nine gifts of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:8-10)
  • Local congregations overseen by elders and deacons (Titus 1:5)
  • Every member having and being a ministry in the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:11)
  • Being led by the Spirit of God (Romans 8:14)
  • The gathering together of the Body of Christ (Genesis 49:10, John 17:21)
