Yes. America has a state supported religion, called Humanism or Secularism, and the key doctrine on which it either stands or falls is evolution. That's why the false doctrine evolution is taught in public schools.
Dr. H. S. Lipson, Professor of Physics, University of Manchester, said, "Evolution became in a sense a scientific religion; almost all scientists have accepted it and many are prepared to 'bend' their observations to fit in with it." (Physics Bulletin, Vol. 31). By law and by economic pressure, the doctrine of evolutionism has been enforced.
"I am convinced that the battle for humankind's future must be waged and won in the public school classroom by teachers who correctly perceive their role as the proselytizers of a new [ungodly belief system and] religion of humanity that recognizes and respects the spark of what [some of the liberal] theologians call divinity in every human being. These teachers must embody the same selfless dedication as the most rabid fundamentalist preachers, for they will be ministers of another sort, utilizing a classroom instead of a pulpit to convey humanist values in whatever subject they teach, regardless of the educational level preschool day care or large state university." The Humanist, January/February 1983, "A Religion for a New Age."
Isn't it nice that those who wish to impose their New Age or Secular religious beliefs on everyone else are able to finance their religious efforts with public tax money?
Evolution isn't science.
