When you read the Bible, you are built up in the spirit, as long as you yield to the Spirit of God.

Make certain that you seek the Lord for revelation. Come with humility and you will receive. Seek that God reveal Himself to you.  God is always present when you read the Word. You cannot read the Word without the presence of Jesus. Human pride and a double-mind can act as a block between us and God, however. It is possible to read the Bible without ever having an experience with Jesus.

Keep in mind that the Holy Spirit is not in conflict with Himself.  Any revelation will be an understanding of the Word.  It will never conflict with the Word.  No Scripture is of your own interpretation.  Hold on loosely to that which you consider to be revelation.  Hold on loosely to those doctrines that you may have been taught.  There are many false teachings out there.  Since all the denominational doctrines cannot be correct, we know that we can also be wrong.  But God does meet you when you seek Him.  God gave the apostolic ministry to the church for many reasons, and one of the most important is this: that the church won't be blown about by every wind of doctrine.

God hates speculation.  The natural mind of man is deceitful and desperately wicked and who can know it.  Paul, the apostle told the Church at Corinth that the apostles had the mind of Christ, and he would have loved to have fed them meat, but since they were so carnal and babies in Christ, he had to feed them milk.
