With maturity comes clarity. The more we walk into holiness, the clearer our vision becomes.

• All our spiritual senses are heightened.
• We begin to see better.
• Our tastes change.
• We start to see that there is no satisfaction in what is worldly or ungodly.
• We see the other members of the Body of Christ as being part of our own identity in Christ. If they rejoice, we rejoice. If they feel pain, we actually begin to feel the same pain.
• We start see the value of what is godly and real, and we begin to be drawn to it.
• We begin to have increasingly more love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, and stability.
• Anger, frustration, bitterness, malice, and all the fruit of the flesh begin to drop out of our lives as we see it for what it is. We really see that there is no satisfaction or fulfillment there.

Hebrews 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

1 Timothy 4:1-2 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

1 Timothy 4:8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable to all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

For anyone who cannot hear God's voice of direction, obedience will solve that. The obedience must follow the pattern that God has for this. As you look at the following pattern, you may say, "But how can God speak to me if I already can't hear His voice?" Well, it always starts with God. If you at all have any desire to hear God's voice, that is because God the Father is drawing you and the Holy Spirit is calling you. He really does everything. But, if you don't think you can hear His voice, it is your rebellion that is standing in the way. (Isaiah 59:2) Have you felt that you should do one thing and not do another thing? This shows that your conscience is still working. If none of this bothers you, you are lost. If you feel moved, it is the Spirit of God. Be careful, because the conscience developes it's ability to hear clearly through walking in righteousness. Righteousness, God's righteousness in you, brings you into holiness. Holiness, that is, sanctification, brings you into a state where you have ears to hear and eyes to see. This is why God re-established the apostles as traveling elders and deacons. This is why He once again established the order of local elders and deacons. This is why God established the order of the home.

This is the pattern:

1. God speaks. He speaks through Scripture. When God speaks to us and we hear it, faith comes. (Rom 10:17) But we must wait for a word from God. We can't generate or work up this word. God gives a word in season. God speaks through His people, through the gifts of the Spirit. (1Cor 12:2-3) God speaks through dreams and visions. (Num 12:6-9) God speaks through His creation. (Psa 19:2) We can refuse to hear, but we cannot generate God's voice. We must wait. (some caveats about hearing God's Voice)
2. When God speaks, faith comes. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Literally, hearing by a word of God. How could we hear if God didn't speak. That is why we need to wait on Him and not rush off on our own. Much of what is called faith is simply rationalization or presumption. Real faith is God's faith. It is quite different from human faith.
3. When faith comes, it gives us access to God's grace. (Romans 5:2)
4. It is grace that does the work in us. (1Corinthians 15:10, Ephesians 2:10)
5. We must, however, yield ourselves to His grace. (Romans 6:12-22)
6. When God does His works through us, that is righteousness and it is a free gift from God to us. (Galatians 5:5, Romans 5:18, Romans 10:3)
7. Righteousness leads to holiness. (1 Peter 1:22, Romans 6:19 & 22, Ephesians 4:20-24) This is by the law of sowing and reaping. (Galatians 6:8)
