Tactic of StorytellingThe Tactic of Storytelling occurs whenever stories are used to bypass critical thinking. Examples of the Tactic of StorytellingMovies produce a true trance state and allow for hypnotic suggestion. Every movie has at least one theme. The theme should be recognized and then scrutinized for validity. Storytelling is one of the skills taught in Neuro linguistic programming. The-Big-Bang-Billions-of-Years-No-Flood-Molecules-to-Man story is actually a series of stories that are told to prove various parts of the overall story. When problems come up where one story is shown to be in obvious conflict with some part of reality, the story is modified a little to adapt (moving the goal posts) or another story is made-up to rescue the story (ad hoc rescuing hypothesis). Endless stories can be made up. In the world of make-believe, anything is possible. Deposits that ought to be in a certain place are missing, but a story can be made up to explain that. A fossil is found in the wrong place, but a story can be made up to explain that. Bones that are supposes to be millions of years old are found with soft tissue and blood cells in them, and a story is made up to explain that. There is no evidence that could be imagined that would ever show the overall story to be false (falsification). However, it is important to give the false impression that the overall story can be falsified and that it is not a sacred cow. For this reason, there are always some things that are claimed to be falsifications. "If you find such and such, that would falsify the story." Yet, when those criteria are met, rather than letting the story be falsified, new stories are told to explain how the story is not falsified. Then, new falsification criteria are developed to replace the falsification criteria that have just been met. ![]()
